    I
The paint company sent them the wrong paint. It's going to be a lot of extra work for them to put right but they won't compromise on the quality of the finish.

    YAY! So it's very likely it'll.look.lovely.when.it's.finished.......... :j:T

Are they doing 2 (or whatever is required) coats by hand instead now?

Not sure yet gt, a discussion for another day!

Quite good progress made today although it did take 2 men, 1.5 hours to drill through 2 brick walls for the extractor fan ducting  Houses were obviously built to last 100+ years ago.

I had to take my car to the dealer (20 miles away) this morning for a dealer-only diagnostic  Was a bit worried about cost as the diagnostic alone was going to be £54 (already reduced from £114 when I'd "had words"!) It turned out that all it needed was a new brake light bulb :o In my defence, there has always been a message rather than a fault light when the other bulbs have needed replacing... I felt like a right idiot! They must have taken pity on me as I was only charged for the bulb, no labour and they waived the diagnostic charge :T

Mr MWC is going up to Glasgow with his dad tomorrow for the footie. I'm going in the opposite direction with my dad to visit my nephew :heart2: He's 6 months old now and absolutely adorable but has really bad eczema and is allergic to dairy, soy, eggs, gluten & nuts :( Fingers crossed he grows out of it.

Aw poor littlie - sending all best wishes for the allergies to sort themselves out and abate. It's one thing having eczema and allergies as an adult, but quite, quite another as a little baby.

Have a great time visiting MWC :D

7.5 hours travelling for a 4 hour visit but it was lovely to see them all :D Cuddles and smiles for auntie MWC, tears for grandad!

Not much progress to report on the kitchen this week...
The quarry tiles were professionally cleaned on Tuesday - VERY expensive but he's done a good job :)
    The fitters/builder were AWOL Wednesday-Friday :(
I'll need to start nagging on Monday as the range cooker is being delivered and fitted next Friday and there's quite a bit of work needed beforehand.

It will be lovely when it's done, it will be lovely when it's done, it will be lovely when it's done...

Hope your nephew does grow out of all the allergies. Managing 2 on a permanent basis is quite enough work, let alone more!

  • I really hope so Apple!

Mr brother is doing a commendable job cooking from scratch every day :T and SIL is now eating fish to increase her protein intake whilst she's still breastfeeding and having to avoid dairy, eggs and soya.

It may be worth checking out Mark Sisson's Primal blueprint. You have to get past the initial 'selling' page, but I think there are lots of recipes as well as general princiiples. I know it can help to have someone else's plan to follow , that you can then tweak.

  • Hello

I hope everyone is well. What have I missed?!

I've mainly been spending money... again :o

    - after 8 weeks the kitchen is very nearly finished :j although it very nearly broke me :( Still to do: painter coming back tomorrow to repaint the walls (I wasn't happy with the finish) and then we can hang a print on the wall and put up the blinds and the plumber can put the orange radiator back on the wall. Then when it is completely finished, I might let Mr MWC use it :rotfl:

    - we visited family in Canada during the 150th celebrations

    - whilst we were away, we had the living room decorated :) We're just waiting for furniture to be delivered this week, curtains next week and a woodburning stove to be installed on 1 August :T

I was planning to get the house valued next month but whilst we were away one of our neighbours put their almost identical to our house on the market for £380,000 and it STC within a week :T Based on that valuation we own 87% of our house :D

Here are a few holiday snaps:
