  • Another spendy day

    - bought a white/brushed chrome trim induction hob range cooker :)

    - bought an oak/blue table & chairs for the kitchen :)

    - bought FIL's Nikon 3300 DSLR camera (1 year old - he's upgraded) :)

    Offset by £87.90 TCB :T

The builder won't be starting tomorrow :( but that does give us an extra day to empty the kitchen cupboards and use the washing machine :)

  • Day 1 of washing-up in the bath... I hope the next 4-5 weeks pass in the blink of an eye :rotfl:

Everything is a bit too vague for my liking but I'm at home tomorrow so hopefully I'll get some answers...

  • It doesn't look like much progress has been made today but

    - the electrician was here all day moving sockets and making dust; he'll be back on Saturday to finish off.

    - the gas fitter disconnected the gas. Luckily I was here as he wasn't going to move the supply and then cap it as we have asked for at every meeting we've had with the builder (we're not having a gas hob this time but we want to future-proof the kitchen by having the gas supply in the right place).

    - the plasterer and plumber popped in to survey the job - both back tomorrow.

I keep mentioning things to the builder and it's like he's hearing it for the first time rather than the second, third or fourth time

Do you remember that we had a squirrel take up residence in the loft a couple of years ago and we needed to get a pest controller in? Anyway, I asked the electrician to look at the ceiling lights in the bathroom for me as they've not worked for a while and it turns out that the pesky squirrel had nibbled the wires down to bare copper
£495 + VAT to repair but at least it didn't electrocute anyone or cause a fire *phew*

Following with interest, as it looks like (after a few false starts!) we're having a new kitchen shortly - the co we *think* we're going with (awaiting a meeting for plans and costs.....) have a space in July which they want to fill (I must be mad - possible upheaval at the start of the school hols!) so it's all moving quickly

Eek! re cost of lights repair - but phew! re no major damage x

  • It's now 6 months since we saw the first kitchen designer (she went AWOL in December and we first met the current designer in January) and it feels so much longer!!!

Are they desperate enough to offer a really good discount to fill that slot?!
