I'm stressed and annoyed  It's now 10 days since my great-aunt died :( and her useless grandson (next of kin) hasn't been in contact with the undertaker yet
Aw I didn't realise it was great-aunt who had died. How lovely she got to meet her ?????? great-great nephew ?????. Am useless with working out relationships :o.

I suppose there is no real rush but I always want funerals done and dusted asap - I hate the feeling of being in limbo. Hope he gets his finger out xxx

Yes, even though she was 104 years old, it was unexpected :( I was able to get there just before she died so I've said my goodbyes. The funeral is pre-paid, all he has to do is register the death and sign some paperwork at the undertakers... useless so-and-so  I'm not really surprised though as he didn't bother to visit her once in the last 18+ months even though he lived in the same small town :(

  • We have a date for the funeral :T 27 March

Instead of the £1,700 tax rebate Mr MWC was expecting, HMRC has decided that he owes them almost exactly the same amount and that he needs to pay immediately

  • It's the weekend :j

I've successfully applied for a 0% interest CC - 28 months +£35 cashback :T Let the spending commence :rotfl:

    Plans for the weekend:

    - free 90 minute JL Home Design Style Advice appointment :)
    - buy a wedding outfit :( I hate clothes shopping... and I'm wondering how I can accessorise my navy kaliko dress so that it doesn't look like the dress they all saw me wearing at a funeral this week! Any ideas?
    - gardening
    - replace a fence panel
    - empty old chicken-destroyed hot compost bin into new hot compost bin + chickenproof it

Gorgeous dress. Do you have anything already that would give you a pop of colour such as a hat, shoes or wrap in anything from pale grey to red? A chunky necklace might work too.

Hope the JL consultation goes well. I am a bit stumped with our living room so would be interested to hear what they suggest.

Meh! to HMRC and their inefficiency :(

Definitely second accessorising the dress for the wedding - change the belt, with coloured shoes/ bag/ wrap (not necessarily all of them at the same time!) the look could be totally changed. A large wrap/ pashmina in palest soft grey or maybe ivory/ cream with a blue print, pale tights/ stockings, nude shoes (if they have a bit of bling on them even better) or patterned shoes (such as irregular choice or iron fist ones) Rather than a chunky necklace I'd go for a long statement piece (can be picked up in Accessorise - or even Claires for much less money! :D) - but that's because I prefer those on me :)
    Lovely dress :)

ETA: Or if they have a bargain priced dress from Kaliko on that site (now bookmarked!) buy that? - just picking Kaliko as you may know the fit of their clothes on you

  • Spent too long looking at house-y things but I'm thinking about duck egg blue accessories???!!! On the back burner for a few days.

6 weeks today I'll be in Portugal :j Needless to say a new diet/fitness regime started today :p Mr MWC is in Italy this week so no distractions. WW harissa salmon with cauliflower tabbouleh for dinner - I had my doubts but it was yummy

Mr MWC phoned the tax office this morning. He thinks he got confused and made a mistake on the SA so the £1,700 rebate that turned into a £1,700 bill could potentially (I don't want to get my hopes up too high!) turn into a £3,500 rebate :)

  • I'm back in "The Zone" :j

    followed the diet... properly!
    -3 lbs
    gym 5/5
    75,764 steps

No progress on the wedding outfit but I have bought a lovely pair of linen trousers for Portugal and lots of fancy shower gel on BOGOF :)

No final price or starting date for the kitchen yet and no news from the tax office.

A 3 bedroom, end-of-terrace house across the road from us went on the market 3-4 weeks ago for £500,000 :eek::eek: I need to get our house valued!!! As far as I can see from rightmove, the things that add value to it are that it is Grade II listed (that side of the street is, our side isn't but we're still in the conservation area and 100+ years old), end-of-terrace (we're mid-terrace), double-length garage (no garage), en-suite and it overlooks a "village green" (we're just to one side and behind a hedge!). I think the flow of the house is really weird though :p Quite quickly the price reduced to £475,000 and now it's sold STC :eek::eek:
