The most exciting thing that happened today... a notice from the council... later this month we are getting new bins :j:rotfl:

You're as bad as me MWC - I got excited today because a bean had sprouted :rotfl:
  • I got excited today because a bean had sprouted :rotfl:

Now that's properly exciting news Fortune :T
Mortgage at highest (April 2008): ~£195,000
    Mortgage-free: January 2021
Retired: June 2022 (186 months early!)
  • We've received a letter from our electricity supplier titled Notification of an amendment to your monthly Dierect Debit which immediately filled me with dread after reading Ed's post

"Following a much colder winter blah, blah, blah, we have reviewed all our customer's accounts blah, blah, blah.

Your direct debit level is currently too high. We are changing your monthly Direct Debit to £34."

Phew a £6/month reduction :j Not sure we will be so lucky with the gas but hopefully any increase will be less than £6/month!

The gas bill arrived today and we weren't as lucky... DD has increased from £49 to £79... :(:(:(

  • Eggs IN 8
    Eggs OUT 18 (3 boxes sold for £2.75 + £1.50 received yesterday)

Gnocchi with chargrilled artichokes, peas & rocket for dinner

I've got my fingers crossed for a mild autumn - Mr MWC has been warned that the gas central heating isn't being switched on until 1 November at the earliest!

  • Eggs IN 7
    Eggs OUT 10 (1 box "sold" for a £1.25 IOU + 4 for dinner)

Plants IN 0 - this is bad... 15 plants that I ordered 4-4.5 weeks ago haven't been delivered yet  Also 2/5 Hibiscus ‘Mahogany’ plants in the SR crimson pot collection have wilted and died :mad: I've no idea why - the other plants in the same pot are fine

I treated my car to a trip to the car wash this afternoon so she's lovely and shiny now :) It's normally £12.50 inside & out but the chap only charged me £10 as "it's only a little car". Now my car hasn't shrunk since last time so it must have been my charm... :rotfl:

    Huevos rancheros for dinner

Mr MWC is happy - Scotland have just scored in the footie. I'm sure that there will be tears later!

No tears - they won, shame its too late to make a difference :o
  • Good morning

It's overcast here - hopefully it will brighten up later.

I have reviewed the meal plan for the coming week and written a shopping list - looks like it might be quite expensive :(

A new RC Handbook (No. 11) has been published - Chicken & Eggs. I will be good and put this on my Christmas list :) I'm much more excited about No. 12 Booze by John Wright to be published on 7 November :rotfl:

"Booze is divided up by alcohol type, from beer and wine to herbal spirits and fruit liqueurs. Each section starts with an introduction to the basic techniques, methods and other useful information, before giving recipes for delicious tipples like rhubarb wine, elderflower champagne, mead, cherry plum wine, orange beer, lager, real ginger beer, sweet cider, zubrovka vodka, amber spirits, rose infusions, blackberry whiskey, raspberry rum, chestnut brandy, mulled cider and, perhaps most importantly, hangover cures."

My 40th birthday present from my brother was a RC mushroom foray with John :cool::cool:

  • Supermarket spend wasn't too horrendous :j £62.28 - includes 4 rib-eye steaks for next weekend but not quite everything we need for this week... still need to buy milk, salmon, limes, dill, soreen bars, rubber gloves and possibly some more fruit mid-week.

He's no doubt hoping to score some mead from your new RC handbook :rotfl:

    Eggs OUT 4

I've been spending more money this afternoon - a hair cut (£32), 2 t-shirts (£11 each, 30% off) and £11.99 in Waitrose (still need to spend approx. £10 in Sainsburys on Monday but determined not to spend a penny more on food this week...)

Purchases added to CP - only 500 points off my next £10 voucher :T

Mr MWC is making fishburgers with spicy lime mayo for dinner - yum!
