Hi there, need some help please.......I am currently helping out a freind re-claim back charges. He is claiming back charges on...

    1. Charges for being overdrawn in his account.

    2. Charges for unpaid items.

Can he claim on both of these.........any help would be really appreciated, thanks xx

Hi sent a letter last week to 3 banks requesting statements over the last 6 year.

How long on average do they take before they respond to your letter?

Also, since having these bank accounts i have married, so my name and address have changed but i have made a note of this in the letter i sent out, and have included my previous name and address...i hope this doesn't delay the process even more!!

Any feedback will be much appreciated...

With regard to how long the banks take to issue details it varies and no bank seems to be consistent so I cant really give you a clue.

Personally I've received a full list of charges from one within a fortnight in the form of a letter and confirmed as copy statements another week later. Two others are only part way through sending information after 5 weeks due to archived material needing representation for me to make it legible but I am prepared to wait for that. The last is completely ignoring me and I am poised to make official complaint to the ICO because frankly, that has irritated me.

Providing as many details as possible can only help to locate your details so I wouldnt worry about that.

Good luck getting your information in a reasonable time :)

    Help....

I started my claim on MCOL, after following all Martins advice.
I recieved by post a "notce of Issue" this stated dates of
sent to defendant on 23rd March
    Deemed served on 28th March
defendent to reply 14 days, being 11th April
Bang on 11th April the defendent Acknowledged, giving them another 14 days.

So my Question is, Becuase it says on the issue of notice, that the defendant has UNTIL 11th April, is 14 days after that the 25th April (today), do i have to wait until midnight tonight to send judgement????

As yet i have recieved no responce.

My claim is against Natwest for £3500...

    Thanks

I havent done this myself yet but hitting the button at midnight seems to be the thing to do from other posts I've seen on the subject. Good luck :)

    1. Yes. Also if the overdraft consist entirely of charges and was incurred by a charge the interest on the overdraft is reclaimable too.
    2. Yes.

To seperate them neatly, yes you could. I've found it easier to seperate the charges based on the amount, grouping them and just changing the date each time. :)

  • My partners bank account was closed down about a year ago at Natwest bank. This was due to him owing them lots of money which was a result of there charges on his account. we just need to know if we can put in for a reclaim and if they have to legally provide us with the info we need. We are paying off his debts to the collector Natwest forward us to, if we could reclaim the charges we could pay off the debt. Just need to know where we stand?. Many thanks x

  • Well i like most peole was amazed that we could reclaim our bank charges and initially i thought this would not work but i know that it is really possible.
Problem is i have been following the guidelines and given my bank (barclays) 40 days to reply and so far they have ignored me! do i now report them to the banking ombudsman?

any advice will be gratefully recieved!
