Hi I have a question
I have a current account & credit card with "Halifix". I have charges on both accounts totaling about 2000 pounds plus probably more when i find the rest of my statements (about 10 missing). My question is can i make 1 claim for both accounts or do i have to make seperate ones for each.Regards

please can someone help?
Do you write the standard letters to your branch or the bank's head office address, or to another address im not aware of??
Also do you have to send the statements of the bank charges back with the letter or will copies suffice?0 -

I am trying to claim my money back from HSBC with regards my Mastercard - I have had an offer in the post this morning for £138.00 and I am claiming £296 plus interest - I phoned the number on the letter to try and up the offer but have been advised that I need to write in again saying that I do not accept the offer and they will refer this to management - which I am going to do today and send it off special delivery as I have only given them 7 more days - in the letter they state that they are going to credit the amount back to my account but I would really like to take the money as a cheque so I can decide for myself what I do with this money.
Is it standard procedure to credit this refund back to the Mastercard or can I ask for it back as a cheque.
I think technically the money should go back to the card as a credit available to you, as it was in the first place, to take if you wish. It wasnt actually taken out of your pocket and shouldnt be refunded as cash to you personally should it ?
Edited after a little think on this as it seems complicated to me with credit cards: If the refund wipes out any credit limit and there is a balance remaining in credit then this should rightfully be yours though. Also if the monthly payments are up to date then you should be entitled to the refund as a cheque. They can only take the full refund if that amount is due and payable and the account is in arrears and defaulted on payments.0 -
Just checked MCOL again and Lloyds have acknowledged my claim, do they get 28 days from the date that it was acknowledged (12/04) or from the date that the claim was issued (29/03) I'm not sure, can anyone help?0

If you have to hand write letters, and my printer has tantrums occasionally too, then its a good idea to get a photocopy of it the local post office charges 10p I think for one. Since you hand delivered it then there is no question they received it. I wouldnt send another request with another payment but write and advise they have breached your entitlement to the data within the statutory 40 days. Reiterate your request advising you will complain about the breach to the Information Commissioner, it may hurry them up a bit.
This letter can also be hand delivered to the bank and it will be forwarded internally to the correct department. It saves on postage extra for recorded delivery and ask a clerk for a receipt. Good luck0 -
Hi Twinkly
do you have that link for the benefits act where they can't take your benefit for a debt.
My friend has a student loan and is on benefit she has just had a nervous breakdown and they are demanding money from her benefit just need to find the link so she can quote it at them.My Mission today is to have an opinion on everything.
If you don't like it well you will just have to lump it!0 -
