Hello, can anyone advise me if they have been delayed by Abbey with reclaiming bank charges? I am now at the stage where they offered my partner ( whom i am acting on behalf of ) £50 when she was claiming nearly £1500 (£1900+) with interest. I wrote back to them saying this was unsatisfactory and unless I heard from them in 14 days would be persuing the matter in the small claims court. Today was the deadline and she got a letter saying sorry she wasn't satisfied blah blah blah, we are going to do a thorough investigation (they mustn't do them normally) and would get back to us within 4 weeks. Can I instigate the small claims procedure or do i have to allow them the 4 weeks they require?
Thanks in anticipation

If the 14 days are up that you gave them then go ahead with the claim, you stick to your timescales not theirs....0 -
It's a while since I asked this so I will try again. Please, does anyone have any tips on applying to reclaim charges if one has no permanent address to apply from because of the nature of one's work?0

Hi,
Just a quick question.
I've read now that it has also been proven unlawful for the banks to close accounts and you can report them for this.
I previously claimed with Halifax and agreed a figure with them.
However, whilst my first claim was going on (in January) I incurred another couple of hundred pounds worth of charges.
Because I have already claimed once on this account, can I still calim for the rest and if I do, do they have a right to close my account them?
Thanks

If you haven't signed a statement that you won't be claiming again, then you can. It's more likely for banks to close accounts after claiming for the second time. You can then report this to the Financial Ombudsman and might receive compensation. The account will stay closed though, so it's advisable to have another bank account in place.Reclaimed thanks to this site:

Hi,
I claimed £5000 from Bank of Scotland and today they have sent me a letter offering me £2187.00.
What do people think should i fight them for the full amount of £5000? i am quite willing to take it further but what i am worried about is that they refuse to pay the full amount and i end up getting nothing.
Everyones fews and thoughts would be appreciated.

Charges of a sort.
Good news yesterday with the FSA striking a deal with the trade associations that represent the majority of PPI providers. It means that Insurers will no longer apply nil-refund clauses to contracts. This has been described as a
major victory in the battle against rip-off loan insurance (credit cards as well)
has been won with insurers agreeing to offer 'fair' refunds when customers cancel policies. Interesting articles on thisismoney.co.uk campaign section.0 -

A couple. Use a friend or family members address for letters to be received. Use an email address for all written communications, they can be saved and printed off when you have access to a printer. If you are employed by a corporation who send you on the road use a company email address, ask your employer for a dedicated account. Or you could try using a PO Box number, this costs money though but it might be worth the cost. See here for details:

It would be your choice to accept and is a lot of money but you are entitled to claim the full amount so I would go for that instead. Its highly unlikely you will end up with nothing take a wander through the success thread for a bit of a boost to your confidence. Good luck
