Can anyone tell me if I've gone the correct way of doing things please?
I printed off the template letter (the one which includes interest) and amended it slightly, here's what I wrote.....
"Dear Sir or Madam
Ac No ********
I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account.!!I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to NatWest.
The charges total £4084.05, plus as I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money I have calculated £856.56 interest at the statutory rate, the amount the court will award.
I therefore ask that you repay me the full amount for charges of £4084.05 by way of cheque.! I have attached a full schedule of the charges and interest with this document.
I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days."
Although I sent the letter with interest, I merely asked for a refund of charges, also payment via cheque.....is this ok?????
I hand delivered the letter to my branch (as I did when I requested my statements)......should I have addressed it to the NatWest Borehamwood address?.
Any advice would be appreciated as I'm sitting here paniking incase I've gone wrong at the 1st hurdle.
Looks fine to me and a decent adaption of the template to suit your own circumstances so no worries. Delivering this to the local branch is fine too and it will be passed to the correct department. The reply to this letter will have the address to send your next letter to so follow their lead from now as to who to write to but stick to your own timescale.
Good luck0 -
Hi
I submitted my MCOL to HSBC yesterday, what do i do now? How long has the bank got to reply?
Any info would be great.
Thanks
The bank now has 14 days to acknowledge the claim and if it does a further 14 days to file a defence. If it doesnt acknowledge you win by default after the first 14 days. If it does and files defence you can proceed with your part from then on and get further advice if needed. Just for now though you can relax for 13 days. Good luck0 -
Hi. I'm new to all this and am just doing my first letters.
One is to TSB for a current account which we actualy closed last year.
The other is to the Co-op for a credit card which I also closed recently (two months ago).
Does anyone know if I stand much (or any) chance with these people. My claim is probably going to be about £600 with TSB and about £300 with the Co-op.
Thanks.
Yes you have a good chance with both. Have a look through the success threads for some information and reassurance. Hold your nerve and good luck0 -

and i have charges of £85 due to come out this month....should i still pay it?
any help would be appreciated,
thanks

The 40 days is deemed to start from when they received the letter. That the postal order wasnt cashed until the 17th doesnt mean they received it then. To err on the side of caution I would start my 40 days from the middle of the two dates so start counting from around the 12th. They dont always delay statements, they may come sooner than the 40 day timeout so it would just pay to be a bit flexible on the exact date. Abbey are apparently hard to deal with but pay in the end so the more relaxed your approach the easier it will seem, if that makes any sense
With regard to the pending charges. I have pending charges every month and have done for the last year while my account with Abbey is in dispute. I never pay them and just file the statements and they havent come after me seriously yet, just reminders. However I do not use this account and have no need of it.
If you can switch bank accounts immediately for any bills/wages payments then do so and dont pay the charges. If not and you dont want to jeapordise the account I advise its probably best to pay and just add those to final amount to be reclaimed when you have all your details.
A bit of a long-winded reply sorry but hope it helps in some way and good luck0 -

Natwest isnt one I've researched personally, I have for 4 others though. It is well worth a trawl through the success threads for your chosen bank to see how they handle the claims from start to finish and how much they eventually pay out. Just remember to blink now and then while you do or you will end up like  and drooling slightly from concentration0 -
Hi hope someone can help; my bank account with NatWest was closed and they transferred by overdraft to a debt collection agency - when hearing about the bank charges reclaim, I decided to do this and have have recieved a letter from them saying they will as a good will gesture pay the money back into my account - when I phoned then and told them that they had shut it and that I wanted the money paid to me by cheque so I can pay the debt collection company off - they said my account had been re-opened and when they pay the money in, then it will be re-closed!!! can they do this?0
