OMG, this post stinks. From what I grasp:-
Sho me da moneys 24 year old brother couldn't afford to insure a boyed up Punto, but his mates dad has a garage, so for a quick £1000 bung, the garage owner said he'd put it on the MID, so 24 year old didn't get pulled up on a random ANPR. No insurable interest, but blatant fraud by the garage owner and the 24 year old trying to be smarter than the system.
Hope the garage owner gets done too.
Sorry, no sympathy from me, people like this have tripled the premiums for people trying to run an honest Motor Trade business.
Insurers really ought to check MID activity more often - too many instances of people taking out a dodgy MT policy, adding all the oiks in the neighbourhood for a quick backhand bung, not insured, and not going to get out the compound when caught, but those insurers are stuffed as they have to deal with Third Party claims; the chance of them recovering their outlay through the courts against no hope, system cheating fraudsters is zero.
In the words of Simon Mayo's Drivetime Confessions "You are NOT forgiven".0 -
Partly why trade and company insurance is also clamping down.
My old firms insurance used to cover staff cars if being used during work hours. So you pop to the shop for some milk etc you were covered on the firms policy.
All that stopped. No spouses allowed to drive company vehicles.
No driver allowed unless they had submitted a copy of their licence..
It got very restrictive, I wasnt sure at the time if it was a general clampdown or the firm cutting costs.
They are catching them slowly. Another lad on a club forum just got refused a claim. He forgot to mention the alloys, bodykit, exhaust and ££££ stereo system he fitted.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
