It's too late to do anything for this winter anyway.

Just open your window and freeze to death,
you can't afford to pay for heating,
    at least die with dignity.

That's a yes then. At least this one isn't cynically timed to cash in on the coldest months of the year. Oh wait.....

People should welcome the increase as it gives them the incentive to use less gas and electricity. It will help fund more bird shredding windmills that are blotting our landscape and coastline, not forgetting the 'free' insulation schemes.
The best thing is as more people economise on their energy consumption the less revenue the utility companies receive, which will lead to another increase in prices, a win win situation.
Is Beachy Head nice at this time of year?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Lol what a shocker, would this be the surprise rise they were talking about being inevitable 5 or 6 months ago?

Now that we've all followed Martin's nagging for the last 2 months and fixed our prices for the next two winters, it'll be a bit of a bummer if suppliers don't raise their variable priced tariffs soon.

Otherwise they'll no longer be able to afford to subsidise our fixes ;)
Talking of which, have any major suppliers gone to the wall since Atlantic was folded into SSE? That must be about 4 years ago now?

There was that one a certain Mr Stockdale hoped to give us all cheap energy with a couple of years back. I remember reading about it alot on MSE at the time. Nothing ventured, nothing gained was the typical attitude.

Well I call upon all those who ventured, what exactly did you gain?

That particular venture never actually got off the ground, so nothing to fold.
    Ben Scammel's 'Pipeline' was a similar non-starter.
I was thinking more of active suppliers, with real customers, going under?
