Well its 10pm. I'm in bed. Where's OH? On the sofa. Nope not sent him there but left him there. He started moaning about 8pm that he was so tired and just wanted to go to bed. I'm fed up with him sleeping all the time. He fell asleep on the sofa. Now I tried to wake him to get him to come to bed and he was so grumpy saying give him 5 minutes. I can hear him snoring now I knew he'd go back to sleep. He said to me earlier "did I give you back the money for X"? I said not sure as I knew he hadn't and couldn't be bothered with an arguement. Tempted to leave him in livingroom but we both have work in the morning. Left hall light on thinking that would wake him but its more likely to keep me awake! I've turned the heating off so hopefully thatll wake him up. Its SD's birthday tomorrow and this will be the second one he's not got her anything. I know she's at least partly to blame for his behaviour but even if you told her she wouldn't care. Grrrr!!

Off to try and get some sleep. Night all.

  • Head frying night ref OH then unixgirluk?! :( Hope you slept well regardless. I'll likely be having a bit of a rant/letting off steam in my diary shortly for the same reason... :o

    Morning All,

Pencakes, did you get your Sky sorted? If not give me a shout I still have friends that work there. Also why not join me in the declutter?

Well OH finally came to bed last night. When? Not sure I was thankfully out cold. He apologised this morning for being such a grump saying its because he's tired and he's looking forward to the holidays. Er, yeah so am I (tired) as i work the same hours and the commute I'm doing I haven't done in about 12 years!

Got some more cards made last night, put glitter on some and crystals on others. I need to cut coloured paper for the inserts and instead of printing them I'm going to use merry christmas shiny stickers. Will need to also write out the neighbours cards (well the ones I talk to) but I think they will be bought cards (I got a box of 40 from half cost for less than £1).

Money stuff? Well the statements are through on 3 of my cc's (the 4th i can't check till I get home the way they've done the webpage) and I'm happy to say that the minimum payment is coming down and I can actually see a difference in them! But (and tell me if you think I'm doing the wrong thing here) this month for the moment I only want to pay the current minimum payment, and its for the following reasons:-
    - I'm paid weekly and no work, no pay. Which means with 2 weeks off at Christmas my last pay is christmas and then my next is 18th jan! Which means I need money to get to work from the 7th to the 18th i.e. 2 weeks!
    - I still need to sort my ni and tax for my tarot. Yes i know stupid I should have had the money set aside and I did until out of the blue I got made redundant and I wasn't expecting it to take so long to get a job!
    - I have the car to re-mot this weekend after they look at the brakes. I've already paid the mot but will have the extra to look at the wheel on top.
    - I would like to have a bit of cash aside just in case if you know what I mean. My contract is up mid-feb and I know I'm probably thinking about it way early but there's no indication whether they are extending me or not and I'm one of those people that hates things last minute! :(
    - car tax is due end of jan. When it was up in July I renewed it before I found out i had a job to go to so I only got 6 months. The redundancy and time spent not working I would say has set me back probably about a year moneywise. I know I can catch up but its going to take time.

Does that make sense? I will fling extra money I get to my debt i.e. tarot money, quidco (though not sure I'm due a pay out from them at the moment), my halifax £5 and the interest from my pension (which I get at the end of the month and should be around £4ish) and interest off the savings account I use to transfer my bill money into (I get paid weekly and split my money into what I need for bills, petrol, travel to work, food and what I can spend).

Christmas (I include a few birthdays I have around this time too) has been expensive this year for me but I can't wait to see everyone's faces when they open their presents. I have squeezed every penny as hard as i can. I have kept a note of what the RRP is for everything I've bought and what its cost me (either bought online, discount stores, CS, with vouchers, money off coupons etc) and I have spent:-

£670 ............ but if I had paid full price for everything it would have cost me £1470!!!! Now thats a saving of £800!!!

i.e. I bought (this is only some of it):-

    Levis Jeans £45 a pair (normally £80)
Stila lip gloss ....Free! (thank you freebies board, normally £20)
Disney flavoured lip gloss 19p (Home Bargains, normally £4.99)
Thorntons chocolates £6 (Tesco on offer, normally £12)
Lindt Chocolate Ball £10 (Morrisons when they first got them, now £12)
Various DVD's £1-£2 (bought in CS as new or Morrisons on offer, normally £5-£12)
The Hobbit various books £6 each (bought on offer in Tesco and Amazon, normally £9.99-£12.99)
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • Your turn to be grumpy tonight. See how he likes it ;)

Wow!! Well done on your crimbo shopping!! Some serious bargains and money saving there!! Very well done :T

And ref to the cards I'd likely do the same in your position. The min payment is a one off for one. Plus the fact you're not doing that so you can spend money on treating yourself. You're thinking logically and practically. No point leaving yourself short just for the sake of overpaying, then having to borrow or use a cc to make up for it. Go for it! :)

  • I swear men are trapped in their own little world sometimes and forget that other people might have their own problems or that their actions effect others... Hope you still managed to sleep ok?

As for minimum payments, I think you're doing the right thing, and when you are financially better off you can always overpay more to make up for this month.:) That's what I'm planning on doing when my life settles down a bit. My bank statement this month is scary! Lots and lots of money going out! Thankfully it is all one-off stuff house stuff so next month will be back to normal.

Did I mention I havent even started my christmas shopping yet?!

They (men) are in their own little world aren't they?

I slept ok last night, woken up by OH pulling the duvet off my feet but thank fully it was only a minute before my alarm went off. But I am fed up of him sleeping all the time. If its the start of depression (thanks to SD again) he needs to get it sorted now before it gets out of hand again (during the phase that led up to him cutting her out he slept on the sofa for about 18 months and it nearly split us up). He needs to realise once and for all, she's poison and he chose to put her out of his life as she inflicted misery on those closest to her and thought it was funny, got given chance after chance and kicked folk in the teeth and thought it was funny. She's showing all the signs of doing it again to the ones around her now, I've told OH to stand back and not get involved. She will never change. Her real mother hasn't and she's 41.

Pencakes, how many people do you have to buy for? If you list that and their age ranges and hobbies if any and your budget I'd be happy to help you put some ideas together on what to buy. .... and why can't the agent tell you if the dish is communal surely they know?
