Fingers crossed for MOT and 20p bank
Think me and OH maybe go and see The Hobbit. Seen Skyfall last weekend and really enjoyed it! (surprisingly for OH!)
Getting behind on my work so better go!!!
Have a great weekendWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Morning All, its been a good and bad weekend.
On the bad side (get the bad news out of the way):
SD trying her hardest to spoil things again. She loves to be centre of attention and for all the wrong reasons. OH decided he's had enough, he's not going to let her rule his life anymore. I'm wondering if he's picked up the book I'm reading (that he picked!) about a couple in a very similar situation. Glad he's made the decision as she was getting a kick out of seeing him so miserable!
Car? One failed its MOT, although they said it was brakes on one tyre and the handbrake. I'm thinking thats probably as that car hasn't been used much this year as I'm using public transport for this job mostly rather than driving all the way to work.
The other car? The work horse decided to vent coolant all over Mr M's car park. So its in at the garage today. Please keep your fingers crossed for both cars as its bills we can really do without. OH has said he'll pay this one and I'll pay the other one.
On the good side?
OH and I put the tree up. We had great fun doing it. Decided that after last year (the mess SD left last year and other family stuff and my Grandpa passing away) and not putting the tree up we decided we should do it this year. We had great fun deciding which decorations to put up. We've gone for red and silver this year and it looks fab. We put on Christmas tunes and basically danced round the tree whilst decorating it. Oh and enjoying a glass of wine (cheeky I know). But we had a great time.
OH saw 2 CD's in Mr M he wanted at £2 each. I couldn't say no could I? So they are in with his Christmas.
I counted up the 20p's and I had £12.92 (OH admitted to putting in the 12p from change he had not realising it was only 20p I was putting in there). So that bought us a McD's yesterday (I tried one of their christmas pies, omg they are soooo sickly!) and enough left over to buy rolls and cold meat for packed lunches for both of us for today and tomorrow (if SD decides to raid the ones in the fridge for tomorrow I will murder him, I've wrapped them in foil and then in a carrier bag so hopefully that will deter him).
Mum's said I can put car repairs on her card and pay her back. The majority I will be able to pay her back this weekend but the rest will be in dribs and drabs.
Roll on lunchtime as I'm actually quite hungry. Remembered I have an old piggy bank from my childhood in a cupboard. This thing is huge (about the size of a melon). So if I can find the key I think after the new year I'm going to start using it. But what should I save in it? I have 2 small ones at the moment. One gets £2 coinds saved in it and the other is my 20p's. What could this one be (what about 5's, 2's 1's?)? Thinking this one might be either for emergency or christmas fund, not sure yet. At least if it fills quick I can take the change to the bank and put it away in my savings so its there if I need it.

Hello!
You have had an up and down few days for sureBummer bout the cars but hope they're sorted soon.
Aw sounds like you had a fab time putting up decorations with your OH!It can be a lot of fun if you're in the mood. We didn't put the crimbo music on right enough, but def should have. Will get the CDs out asap and get the toooones pumping!!
Saving for emergencies?? Sorry must've missed that memo
I just put ALL my spare change into a tin every day (with the exception of £1 coins if I have over £5, in which case I keep the £5 in my purse). Once a month I empty it, usually a few days before payday when I'm down to the last of my budget, and lodge it in the bank. Usually it's been £60-£70 but the last 2 months it's been over £100! :T
Sometimes when I'm putting the change away I think 'crikey - that's £3 or £4 I could probably do with', but it's just a matter of cutting back on that extra treat (cappuccino usually!), then looking forward to the end of the month when I'm loaded againWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
Ok, just called the garage. The work horse is fixed. £180! Still it could have been worse. Morning All, how is everyone? Thanks Dragon, thanks HAW. It really wasn't what I needed was it?
Well picked OH up last night and although we really shouldn't have (pennies and calories!) we had a chippy tea. It was lovely. OH is a little brighter. He gave me £100 towards the car bill so I need to get it into my bank but don't think I'll have a chance before the weekend and pay my Mum back. I also paid for the MOT last night, I just hope the stuff needed for it to pass the retest isn't expensive!
I wrapped some presents last night, including some of OH's. For once he's not wanted to open them early! He's panicking about not being able to afford to buy something for his son (SS), a surprise for me (told him I'm happy I've got him), something for my Dad and my Gran (he's already bought something for my Mum). I've told him that for SS considering his age he'll understand about not buying something till the new year (and if he doesn't he's an ungrateful ****) and something for my Dad and Gran doesn't need to be expensive, i.e. he bought my Mum a nice jumper (I took him to Mr S when they had 25% off and gave him my nectar points which gave him another £2.50 off).
SD is at it again trying to wind folk up again. Saw this morning what she's posted online. Considering what she's doing I know this will sound bad but I'm glad she's not around anymore. Neither OH or I could take anymore of her nasty behaviour. At the moment she's trying to make out as though she's sweetness and light to the ones around her now. I know my SIL will hit the roof when she sees what she's written, and unfortunately I have a sneaking suspicion that she's trying to fleece her brother (SS) again. But decided its up to him and if he's going to be that stupid (again) its his fault.
Tonight, I'm going to finish off my friend's scarf I knitted (finish ends and put a loop and toggle on it. Hopefully going to see her on saturday.
Aw your chippy sounds yum! Especially seeing it was 'forbidden' food. Makes it all the more tasty and exciting!!
Think your SD needs to sort herself out. But there's some people you just can't talk to unfortunatelyJust keep yourself and your family right and protect yourselves. Let her do what she wants.
Does the scarf look good? Need to invest in one myself. Minus 4 deg this morning at 8.30am apparentlyWealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0 -
I hate to speak ill of anyone but I really hope your SD suddenly finds herself friendless and then realises what a biatch she has been and it is all her fault :mad:Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Forbidden food always tastes better doesn't it?
SD can get on with it. All of us were put through the mill for years and it had an impact on all our health. For me I ended up with stomach problems (stress related reflux) that was so bad I ended up on 3 different types of tablets. OH on anti-depressants. But I'm worried that SS just keeps going back for more and everytime gets kicked in the teeth or fleeced. I know it hurts OH not speaking to SD but after years of what she put us all through she didn't change no matter what was said, what she got/didn't get etc. So eventually enough was enough. OH went through hell and she knew it and didn't care. Now her real Mum is back on the scene (she doesn't want SS near her, which i think is wrong as its his choice) and I can see the same things happening again. if she's not the centre of attention she will kick off and heaven help the person who is centre of attention (we're talking someone here who thought it was funny to try and get her brother arrested on his birthday because she wasn't centre of attention). But if the ones around her now can't see it coming more fool them. I just want to protect OH and SS.
Anyway enough of the negative stuff....
The scarf? I'll need to post pics of it once its finished. I'm quite proud of the fact I've knitted it myself. I hope my friend likes it. Do you not have an old scarf you could jazz up? Or do you have any old leggings/tracksuit bottoms? This might sound weird but if you do you can cut one of the legs off and stitch the ends together to make a neck warmer (you know the circle things that are quite popular now instead of normal scarves?)CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
