You might need to wait another week for part 2 of the switchover when the final channel line up is released and supposedly the transmitters will be working on higher power (not a higher power!)

  • BT52. Just off the ring road near Asda. I'm not sure what transmitter we are. Thought it was Limavady but maybe not...

Guy who lives at the other end of the houses says all his BBCs are fine :p

I was wondering about maybe having to wait til the 24th actually...

Stupid thing is, it's coz of the BBC we have to pay for a TV licence, yet those are the channels we can't get to work!!! Typical

  • Most likely from Limavady over that side of town (aerial probably pointing to the town rather than Ballymoney direction). BBC (BBCA Mux) channels from Limavady are broadcasting at the maximum power. May be a problem with your receiver as I know an old freeview box i had didn't like a previous shuffle of channels.
Can you try another receiver just incase?
  • Just checked my postcode on the digitaluk website
This address is predicted to receive a good terrestrial TV signal from the Limavady transmitter in the Northern Ireland TV region. Your local BBC news service is BBC Newsline and UTV Live for UTV.
Your switchover dates and available channels depend on which transmitter you receive your television signal from.

TV has built in freeview so don't know if we can try a different receiver or not :(

  • you should be able to just plug in receiver into the scart connection and try it out first of all, can you see what signal strength etc you are getting from BBC One?
  • On digital we don't get anything except a message saying 'no signal'. Usually seems to work ok for a short while after retuning.

Checked the website again and they've mentioned about getting signals from 2 transmitters and they're getting mixed up?
Just don't get why it's only those 3 channels!! :p

  • BBC A Mux - includes BBC One, Two, Three, Four, News and Parliament, therefore if you received the others in this list, in theory all others should work, sorry I can't help you any more with this, sound strange though keep us posted.
Btw, if your aerial is pointing to Limavady, there would be very little chance of receiving freeview channels from Divis.
  • BBC4 definitely works. No idea about News or Parliament but will check those when I get home.

    Stumped!!

Have emailed off to digitaluk to see if they can shed any light on it!

Thanks for your replies northernireland10 :D Will keep you posted!!

    :

Limavady transmissions use channel numbers up in the 50 or 60 range, whereas the Divis transmitter uses numbers in the 20 or 30 range.
When you do a retune of your freeview box it will normally count up from channel 21 to 69 and pause at a channel that has data on it and then list the stations available. So if its stopping at say 27, I would say you are getting a signal from Divis, but if it stops at say 50 then you are picking up Limavady.
Looking at the map below, there are several relays in the area, so I guess its possible your could be aligned with one of those.

  • Thanks for that. Will keep an eye tonight on the numbers [STRIKE]if[/STRIKE] when we retune again.
