RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

What a nanny state this Government is getting!!

Maybe they need to stop giving away millions in foreign aid to other countries, stop bailing out the EU, then we wouldn't be in this mess were in!!

It really bloody annoys me when David Cameron keep saying "We're all in this together".

Its not OUR fault the Government overspend, why should we suffer!!

Why should people be harassed for claiming benefit, why allow in so many immigrants!!

David Cameron doesnt know what real day every life is all about; he needs to try and live on benefits for a week and see hope he copes!!

He seems hellbent along with Ian Duncan Smith on destroying the welfare system which in turn will make vulnerable people suffer from their consequences.

He needs to put a stop to energy companies ripping us off, help lower the cost of food bills, and lower petrol prices!!

I am ashamed at the way this Government treats the sick and disabled, by forcing people to go to benefit medicals, and then stopping their benefit money if they don't qualify!!

Shame on David Cameron and Ian Duncan Smith; try living in the real world like the rest of us have to!!

I think the fact that the recession is triggering all these cuts might only be circumtantial. It is much easier to close your eyes on overspends when you can afford it then when you can. That doesn't mean that the overspends didn't exist before.

The reality is that the cost of benefits have gone out of control and there was always going to be a time that it needed to be reviewed. It is happening now because it has become an immediate need.

It doesn't mean that other areas of overspends don't need to be reviewed alongside. Everyone feels the pressure of the cuts one way or the other and no-one affected likes it, that doesn't mean that it is wrong to do something about it.

    !

So should the government be handing out taxpayers hard earned money without any checks or validation? Why should anyone be given money if they don't qualify? Bit like my daughter thinking it a swizz if she gives up her job and her ex employer won't pay her anymore. I think it is you who needs to get into the real world. How long is it since you worked btw?

What about putting SOME of the blame for the overspending on those who have enjoyed and still do enjoy a comfortable life on benefits increasing their family when they fancy a £70 a week rise in income or a bigger house?

Many posters here try to make out it is a very hard life on benefits so why then are there so many families where no one has worked for decades yet appear to want for nothing.

This country needs to have a stronger welfare system in which a person has a certain amount of welfare support dependent on what they have paid in....when that is used up they have to find some other way of supporting themselves.

I believe there are very very few that could not do some sort of work if the survival imperative was there.

ETA: The precise problem was that the previous government ran a Nanny State, encouraging whole swathes of people to be reliant on easily obtainable and generous benefits. the present government is trying to reverse this trend to a degree, persuading people to be more self reliant.

I actually spat my coffee out because I was laughing so much when I read mumz comment above. A magnificent example of of the entitlement culture so prevalent in this country. I think I will forward it to IDS as proof he is on the right lines.

Excellent post right there - ably demonstrating that you are clueless when it comes to politics, are xenophobic and would like all people on disability benefits to be given their money with no checks at all.

Oh and the reason most politicians have a better standard of life is because they worked hard at school, studied at University and gained excellent degrees (David Cameron got a First at Oxford - they don't just give them away, you know). What's your education history, Mumz? Let's face it, your infantile username tells us pretty much everything we need to know about you.
