Perhaps only those in the support group of ESA for instance should be eligible for DLA.
Maybe that would be possible if/when they start getting the WCA right.
As I've said on many occasions. My dd has been found fit for work.....
Now keep in mind that her thumb dislocated while on a mobility scooter on Tuesday. So dislocating at the touch of a button. Probably at the time of her WCA she should have been placed in WRAG according to the descriptors. She would now sail any WCA to get into Support Group. Over a year since her last medical. And hasn't been reassessed as yet.... So that's about 13 months at £56/week
But is entitled to HRM and LRC. We could probably have appealed and got MRC. But she's happy with that award. So am I in all honesty.
There are different descriptors for each benefit as people on here so kindly point out to me, but it's rather strange that one HCP can find her fit for work, while one of their docs (who examined her) agreed she isn't.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
My GM has been "entitled to AA" for years now based on her needs. But I did this, we didn't pay for this, just a family member doing it (as I could work flexibly).
Now I can't work flexibly - I have claimed as she is paying a high proportion of her pension to a carer/cleaner.
I didn't claim for her prior, not because she "didn't need it" or "didn't deserve it", just to me it felt wrong claiming that money when I met her additional needs and costs.
That changed - so I claimed. So I guess she (me) also was entitled and chose not to claim.
That decision can be based on many things - I wouldnt claim CB (ie start a claim) now, it was just done as the norm when children were born. I could have "ended" the claim and chose not to, but when I claimed we didn't have much money and it's just been that way. I accept I "should" cancel it as don't need it but then my charity that I support would get less so I am selfish in that way.0 -

Sounds so frustrating being found fit by one doctor but not another! I hope she gets put into the right group.0 -

no no. The poster suggested that David Cameron was a hypocrite, He said nothing about Ivan. So unless David Cameron has died and I didn't notice then the poster said nothing about someone who has died.0 -

Yes I called David Cameron a hypocrite, and he is.0 -

DLA is not an unfit for work benefit.
ESA is. I would presume the criteria used to determine eligibility are different.0 -

Yeah I 'm getting mixed up I thought they were talking about ESA.0 -
I never knew that there was a belief that you had to be in receipt of DLA/AA to be eligible for a blue badge and have never encountered that in any research that, that would be a reason for claiming either benefit..
I'm surprised about that because there are regular questions about it on MSE.
Many councils give people the impression that DLA is a criterion for getting a blue badge (AA doesn't have a mobility component which I would have thought you would have known). This not only puts people off applying for one if they're not claimants and saves the council the expense of doing their own assessments.0 -
Really, compared to the benefits structure available in some countries i'd say this country does reasonably well. Its not perfect by any means, but then again you can thank a minority of abusers for that, playing the system and effectively screwing it up for those in genuine need.Hahhahaha! You think that the government give a toss about the sick and vulnerable? You are delusional.
America, as one example doesn't even have a free health service and whilst many may criticise the NHS I wonder what they would think if the UK adopted a similar policy?
If anybody truly believes that there is a better deal available elsewhere then I believe the right to emigrate is available to anybody in this country."Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0 -

The child isn't now, I pointed out that I didn't think it should be discussed now the child is gone the parents hearts will be broken, it should be left alone..
And you turn it into something it isn't..
Now i'm not playing these games anymore, you know full well what I've said and what I haven't
I only came on here to talk about the 28billion pound benefit cuts David Cameron and Osbourne are pushing through, and you have hounded me since my first post. And if you look at my stats you will see it was my first ever post!
I have never talked about his son dying until you brought it up, your right David Cameron son passing has nothing to do with this and it should be left alone, so why don't you leave it, and let the forum go back to the subject of benefit cuts.0
