You are wrong, I have a disc prolapse at C5-C6, I cannot write, I also have lower back problems from previous problems with
discs issues with arms, leg, pelvis..
I am not able to use the phone for long due to the excrutiating headaches the prolapse causes, It would be difficult to raise my hand to my ear for any length of time..

Yes I do spend a lot of time on the internet, it's now impossible to get out of the house on my own as I can no longer push the pushchair, so when the older ones are at school, I either sleep off my medication or go on the net..

I am not typing, I'm using a blackberry playbook which is predictive text..

They have these things called headsets now!

That's what the entiled to class expect to be given.

I can almost hear the howls as the next lot of welfare cuts come in:D

    The "entitled to class"?

A couple of years ago, the training application systems for junior doctors was changed (probably unfairly; but that's not relevant to my point). Immediately, there were complaints from some junior doctors that

-- they were going to have to compete for jobs
-- they might not get the job of their choice in the speciality of their choice in the hospital of their choice
-- they might have to move city to get the exact job of their choice

    and

-- that this would not happen in any other profession.

I call that "entitled to". In spades.

I call "my daughter got 3As and 100% in her Shakespeare paper, but university X turned her down and takes comprehensive school students" entitled.

I see "entitled to" behaviour all over society. But you only see it among benefits seekers who are, oops, legally entitled to benefits? Really?

Some people (not me) who post on here are genuinely severely disabled and deserve every penny they get. Others manage to live totally normal lives (including bearing and raising children, having challenging holidays and doing many things that would daunt those who are well) but just somehow don't seem to be able to work even for a few hours a week.

Is it any wonder that many people in the first group have little respect for those in the second?

Firstly I haven't had a holiday in years,

Bearing children, I assume that is old fashioned talk for giving birth, I don't give birth, I have C-sections..

Raising children, have been quite vocal in the fact i'm struggling, hence the having two support workers and trying to get DLA, the dla hopefully will help pay for the baby to go to a childminder one day a week so at least I can go to appointments/sleep/rest..
Which will be coming out of benefits at £100pm

You have little respect as you so put it because you are not compasionate, have no heart, and would never help anyone who needed it..

Personally at least I can say I'm a human being, i'm proud I got my kids away from their father, perhaps I should have put up with his rubbish just so I didn't have to go on benefits, you'd all be happy then wouldn't you..

No wonder so many women feel they can't leave their abusive partners if this is what they get.

How does 'I spend a lot of time on the internet' translate into 'I spend all day on the net'

and all I see on these forums, especially by a few. Is abuse and asking questions they have no right to ask.

Why is it such a bad thing to ask questions? Firstly everyone does have a right to ask. Whether they are responded to a not is a choice. Besides this though, surely if there the reason for those questions is a overt sense of cynism, then surely answering these answers will help disperse the stereotypes? Stating such things as 'they have no right' only reinforce that those feeling attacked have things to hide, hence totally counter productive.

When I read such things are saying someone couldn't do a job on the phone because they can't physically keep the handset up, when it is sooooo obvious that such jobs would come with a handset as pointed out, it certainly doesn't help the that cynism. I also felt it when you mention that you couldn't do an office job because you couldn't possibly reach targets that would be set. Well I have done many jobs so far, and not once worked in an environment where office administrator had to type at a certain speed. Secretaries maybe, but not office admins, so again, it does makes me wonder whether it is a case of coming up with excuses.

I think many of the cynicals here would sincerely love to be proven wrong. I certainly would. I don't feel hated towards anyone in particular and getting to know some people who claim benefits, I have seen that it is not all black and white, but I have also met people who although stating in one breath that they would give anything to go back to work if they could, in another breath, when appropriate in the conversation, don't hesitate to admit that they are glad they don't have to do the crappy jobs that some friends do.
