MSE News: George Osborne to make £10bn welfare cuts

Irrespective of whether you think benefits need to be cut, you can guarantee one thing. Next year, the richest people in the UK WILL be paying even less tax than they do now, even after all the hype about tax avoidance/evasion/whatever. Our George has his priorities right. He wants less income from his buddies, while reducing the benefits to people, who, in the main, are on benefits because of the actions of his buddies.
The top 10% of earners already pay over 50% of income tax generated, isn't this enough already?0 -
people need to get into the mindset that when you have a stable job , a suitable house and savings in the bank that is the time to have children.
Children should not be used as a way to get benefits and there are many young people who still believe it is
no job is stable not in the climate we live in rememeber the rover plant in longbridge rob not to far from us when we kids they went bust and 900 people lost jobs how many of those 900 people had kids , houses (and that was before the recession)
so you could have savings and a house and what you think is a stable job and you could go in tommorow and they say sorry were having to let everyone goReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. I'd disagree. I'd say the real losers are the ones that have not only paid tax on their salary but are now STILL eligible to pay tax in retirement on their pensions

Like my mother.
Sorry, I don't agree. I pay tax on my pensions as well and feel fortunate that I have a high enough income in retirement to do so.0 -

I live near Hereford. Every summer, we have hundreds of immigrants flocking to the local area to help with the harvest. Where are the British workers?
Tucked up in bed with their alarm set for 5 minutes before Jeremy Kyle starts.......on ITV+1 of course. We are all in it together *

My husband and I are overseas as we are a forces family. Our daughter is 20 in the UK doing a apprenticeship. The one she is on is very low paid compared to the full time hours that she does. She is in a room in a shared house close to her work to help keep travel costs down. Her wages do not cover the rent and basic food/living. So she has applied for help towards the rent of her room from housing benefit. We live overseas right now, she cannot do an apprenticeship here.
Would her situation make her one of those affected by no housing benefit help?
My husband and I both work and the only benefit we have had is child benefit for our children.
Thank you for any insight.
Don't forget that she'll only be on this really low rate for the first year of her apprenticeship and will then go onto minimum wage.0 -
No I don't have any children. I have not yet found the man that could be responsible enough to have them with!!!
i think id rather an unemployed person raise a child even though they may not have a lot of money which typifies what is wrong with this country. Given your comment I presume therefore that you agree that people like me should have to pay for that child via benefits that the parents claim?
As for neglet and abuse - you will find that as much of that goes on with the unemployed parents as it does with those that work. in fact i would go one step further and suggest that more of it goes on with the unemployed parents as they will have more stress to cope with - lack of money, spending too much
time together etc.
Having children is something that people should take seriously. They are not something to cuddle or play with, they are human beings and as they grow older the harder it becomes. It is a life time committment. You only have to look at those caught up in the riots of recent years and some of the comments or excuses they gave why they did it. Most of them came from dysfunctional families where no one worked.
where as a lot of dysfunctional families the kids didnt i live in wales where unemployment is the highest , there are lots of single parent families and we didnt go smashing our town up because we have the iq of a sandwich in fact i was well impressedReplies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected.
