Children in childcare rarely get sniffles. I don't know why - they just don't they build up an immune system from an early age i think. That is from personal experience and being a nursery manager for many years.
Also nurseries and childminders are "less strict" than schools. As long as their nose is clear (not green) their temp is reduced with calpol and they are not distressed - then we don't force collection. We will ring and give the option but children under 5 are so resiliant.
They amaze me how their temp is "high" but have energy to run.
We would only enforce a removal for infection (eg Chicken Pox, Sickness etc) but a sniffle - let them build their immune system!0 -

When my eldest was little, he carried on going to nursery with chickenpox! When he was off colour, they just tucked him up in bed with calpol!0 -

yeah we are more "lenient" After all you see a child wipe their nose with a teething ring and another pick it up in their mouth within seconds (before you can grab it). It's the way it is, but they have less time off school when they get older!
I think their immune sytems are at full strength after being a "childcare baby". Did mine no harm. Not one child has had any real time off school, compared with others who didn't use childcare and were off every other week in reception!
Re the Pox - Once crusty - all good. Mainly infectious in first day or two and before spots. Schools would have a fit!
As long as child isn't unhappy or weepy- Give them a cuddle, calpol and a rest!0 -

Amazing how some people just take this luxury for granted....
I don't take this for granted, I have just prepared to stay at home by not living above my means and only getting a small mortgage, something we knew we could still afford if anything happens. Yes I do know that everyones situations are different but I do hear so many saying that they couldn't wait to get back to work to get back to normality???0
