I have just found this thread. In 1969 my mum received a Kenwood Chef as an engagement present from my Dad. In 2010 Mum was fortunate enough to receive the titanium model as a retirement gift. I have inherited the orginal Chef..... I love it, use it most days and at nearly 44 years old is a solid piece of kitchen equipment.
It's like having a comis chef working along side me!

Any tips for fab cakes? Mine used to be with the hand mixer, not so with Kenny :(

  • ooh i can't believe i've only just found this thread!

i got a kenwood kmc010 just before christmas and i am totally in love with it

i haven't actually made bread in mine, even though i bake it nearly every day, but i've always used my Panasonic....gonna have to have a go in my kenwood now tho!

my fave attachment is the ice cream maker....its freezing outside, but i've been making 2 or 3 batches every week lol!

going to have a go at making pastry in it as well....not in the ice cream maker, i mean in the actual kenwood lol as i've only ever done it in the food processor attachment

used it this morning to make choc chip cookies...thought i'd let him have an easy day!

    It is!

I bought the Ben and Jerry's recipe book to go along with it, and although I don't make any of the B and J recipes exactly, it was fantastic for teaching good technique and inspiring me to come up with my own concoctions.

My all time favourite which the family made me make several times since I came up with it, was chocolate, orange and ginger icecream, which was basically chocolate icecream but made with dark chocolate and ginger rather than just plain chocolate, into which I added a packet of chopped up orange matchmakers just before it finished freezing. It is seriously good :)
  • Can anyone help me please, and point me in the right direction for instructions on how to re-grease a chef gearbox?
    Thank you.
  • Made two white loaves and a coffee and walnut cake today. The loaves are fine but the walnut cake...oh dear! I knew I was off on the wrong foot when I opened the packet of walnut halves to discover most of the were smashed to bits, and at £1.89 a packet I was not impressed.

The two sandwich cakes are sitting on the side cooling off and they have hardly risen at all. I used a Nigel Slater recipe and followed it precisely, I am wondering just what I have done wrong? Hopefully once the buttercream is in place the cake won't look so puny!

Made a wholemeal loaf and a batch of the Fabulous Baker Brothers pizza dough, they are rather yum :) Still yet to completlry master bread, i feel it could be better, update on the cake situation, i feel that the all in one method is not suited to my kenny so went back to the creaming method and was pleased with the outcome :)
