Quick question.... how do you rate your cakes made in the Kenwood? I find they dont rise as much and they just dont seems as 'light' as when i use my hand mixer. anyone else finding this? What am i doing wrong?:j Started my weightloss journey, its neverending!! :j

Are you using the K beater or whisk?
My lemon drizzle cake isn't as light as if made by food processor, but I think I may be over-mixing it, it only needs pulsing in the FP until just combined. I use the K beater for that.
My chiffon cake is sublime in my Kenny, above and beyond any I ever made with a hand mixer, I use the whisk for that.
My victoria sponge and fairy cakes are far better too, again I use the whisk.
My chocolate muffins are better, I only use Kenny boy to whisk up the egg/oil/milk mixture though, the rest is done with spoon.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
Muffins do become heavy if overworked. I barely mix them with a wooden spoon, so I think they probably aren't well suited for any kind of mixer.
With cakes, which method are you using? I use the all in one method and mine are fine. If you are creaming the fat and sugar first though, then you will need to add eggss very gradually and fold the flour in by hand not machine to get good results.0 -
X posted with peachy!
Fish pie in mine tonight (to mash potatoes) followed by banana cake (made wholly in Kenny)0 -
Hi
Thanks for the tips about the pastry. I was trying to use my normal bero recipe and realised that the kenwood recipe is different so maybe thats where I went wrong.
I have made a sponge cake using the k-beater and it was a great success. Eves pudding done in mine tonight, all though I have yet to taste it!0 -

Used the pasta attachment to make lasagne tonight - I put the stopwatch on my phone to time the whole process - was 13 minutes from getting the ingredients out of the cupboard/fridge to having (narrow) lasagne sheets on a plate ready to use! Tasted great too.0

I have just found this thread. In 1969 my mum received a Kenwood Chef as an engagement present from my Dad. In 2010 Mum was fortunate enough to receive the titanium model as a retirement gift. I have inherited the orginal Chef..... I love it, use it most days and at nearly 44 years old is a solid piece of kitchen equipment.
