Thank you x And wahey she has given me her very old A701 mixer! It seems to work OK but the dough hook is missing. It is absolutely filthy from being in the back of Mums utility room cupboard so I need to clean it properly and test it tomorrow. I can pick a dough hook up for about £15 delivered so I am very excited.
The deal is that Mum and I are going to swap. I am going to give her my little food processor in exchange for the Kenwood - assuming it works OK. Hers isnt as pretty as the new ones but hey if it works I am not complaining.
Now I just need to work out what to do with it!!!0 -
Hi YL. Im so pleased youve got it. I had to get a new dough hook too. When I rang the kenwood restore place up the chap on the phone said that in his opinion the older ones were the best. Something to do with the motor.I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0

Can someone who's been looking at these on eBay give me some advice please as I've got an A901 model that I was given to sell on - it seems to work ok mechanically but the arm is jammed/ doesn't lift up so will need some attention (and I will make this very clear in the listing and reflect it in starting price).
Question is, do you think I'd get much less for it if I didn't include the bowl? I'm thinking of keeping the bowl as a spare for mine as it fits. I don't need spare K-beater/whisk/dough hook so would include those.
I could always just buy a spare bowl if I thought I needed it in the future though, and might it put buyers off if it's not included?0 -

Not having the bowl wouldnt bother me at all. You can pick up spares fairly cheaply. The bowl on the one I have just acquired from Mum has gone yellowish with age and I am quite tempted to buy a nice new white one.0 -
I have a 60 year old Kenwood A701, which I am thinking of Freegling without the bowl, as it will fit my shiny new KM010. The old bowl is a bit yellow and has been for years but it is perfectly fine. I can offer a liquidiser with the old one, so think that might make it useful for someone to have I did think about having my old one restored, but decided to treat myself to a new one and got a good deal on A*azon with a food processor and liquidiser included. I love it, and there is room for it to stay on worktop so I use it a lot, even to whip cream for just two people, it takes seconds to wash the bowl and whisk. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. If there were two listed on ebay, one with a bowl and one without, I would bid on the one that had the bowl I am afraid, and would bid low on one that didn't if that was the only one listed. It just adds to the hassle value, and different models have different sized bowls so it could be trickier than you think to pick one up and be sure in advance it was going to fit your machine. The major bowls for example don't fit the chefs.0

Medium to high and it should only take 2-3 minutes. My guess is that when you separated the eggs a tiny amount of yolk ended up in with the whites, or that the bowl had a little grease or something in it when you put the whites in. If so, there is nothing you can do sadly except start again with new whites.0 -
