I was pulled over once and invited to join the officer in his vehicle (I remained in my vehicle until requested to do so).

It was the same car as mine (Mondeo ST24) so I was quite interested. Gobsmacked doesn't do it justice! The entire dashboard had been replaced with a vast array of technical gadgetery. It was geek paradise - I was soooo envious.

He showed me a video of me exceeding the speed limit (by a good margin), said he realised it was difficult to restrain the speed of these vehicles, pointed out a blind junction at the bottom of the hill and told me to be more careful in future. He could have taken me for £60 and 3 points but didn't.

Suffice to say I have never once exceeded the limit on that stretch of road again.

You know that could be read to mean something else right ?

Very true and that was rather stupid of me! I will amend my post to clear that up.

    1. Stay in your vehicle - end of.There is no reason for anyone who is stopped to get out.

We buried our second colleague in Manchester today - both officers were murdered for "doing their job"

Please take 5 minutes out to watch the above link and then ask yourself - when was the last time you put your life on the line to serve others ? (Armed Forces personnel need not reply )

So to all on this thread making smart remarks, thanks for your respect.

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

Stay in your vehicle, take a deep breath and prepare to suck a$$. Even if you think the cop is bang out of order, you've got nothing to lose by flattering the idiot and everything to gain.

I burst into tears the only time I was stopped. It was for running a red light at a traffic light controlled roundabout, and I had just followed the car in front through what was (for him) amber, but a flat out red for me without even seeing it. Sadly for me, the car waiting to pull away at the lights on my right was a police car, and I guess his light was on green as I drove across in front of him. I was about 8 months pregnant at the time, insurance everything checked out and I think he felt sorry for me because I didn't get any points or a fine. Everytime he said anything I just sobbed harder, was really embarassing as I'm normally pretty in control of myself...

Been pulled over a couple of times. Once in derby when some !!!! in an astra was trying to push in front of me at markeaton. Never being one to submit I floored it on to the a38. To my surprise they managed to keep up. When blue lights came on and got out my car, realised it was a VXR. We had a bit of a laugh and then went on my way. Think they must have just watched Superbad.

2nd time was when I had bought a car just day before but hadn't yet taxed it. It was 2.00am in blackpool, no idea where I was going (was trying to find a nice dark quiet area with the then gf) and had a cop car follow me for about 1/2 mile. Rather than them rumble me, I pulled over, they pulled over just behind so I got out my car, knocked on their window had a bit of a chat and did the "I'm lost routine". They got me to follow them back to the main road and waved me off.

Basically, treat them like a human being, be pleasant and it can go a long way.

Tell them you have a body in the boot.

Inform them you are also armed.

When the rest turn up, demonstrate you are corpse and weapon free. Add the line "I bet the lying so and so also told you I was speeding didn't they?"

    5t.
What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?
