About what time did this happen?
Did the boy racer also get flashed when he went through the red light?
he braked hard and stopped just before the red light it seems, it was very dark at the time. Quite a harsh breaking as you could hear his tyres making that awful screeching noise..0 -

the car was behind you
it was very dark
how do you know it was a boy racer in a renault?
you went through on a red light and he stopped before the red light

MSE isn't a great place to post then! There are a lot of trolls here that love flaming.
For future ref, if someone whacks you up the backside when you stop, it's nearly always their fault in the eyes of the insurance companies. They see it that the driver behind didn't leave enough braking distance.
Would your premium go up? Yes without a doubt. Unfortunately for you it'll go up even higher if you get points for running a red light as they'll see you as being lawless and a risk taker. As far as they're concerned you're now a bigger risk to insure than someone who got rammed up the backside because you could kill someone. Thats how they'll see it. At your young age you can bet that increase will be MEGA.
You'll also be stuffed if you get 3 points as you'll basically be allowed one more mistake until your two years probationary is up. If you make that one more blunder (which is quite likely) then you're stuffed because you'll have to retake your test again - theory included. Unfortunately when you re-pass the practical, you don't get a fresh clean licence, you get A full licence but it'll still have 6 points. Plus the fact you were banned / licence suspended will make your future insurance rocket up even higher.
Words of wisdom here: Don't worry about what the pratty drivers behind you are doing, just worry about what you are doing. Drive the safe way you were taught and don't take risks. If the boy racers want to be prats then thats their problem. If they prang into you and rant and rave at you threatening violence etc, simply lock yourself in the car and dial 999 and ask for the police.
FYI I passed my test and within my first week went through a speed camera doing 28 in a 30. Damn thing flooded the winter evening sky so bright I thought I was being attacked by aliens. I panicked for weeks about it, rang up free advice lines etc. The same thing came back every time: Don't worry about it until you get a letter from the police. I know its hard to follow that advice but it really is the only thing you can do otherwise you'll stress yourself right out.0 -

where did this happen? All the red light camera locations are listed online, chances are there was no camera at the location you jumped the light.0

A lot of information to take in considering it was very dark. I would suggest that the OP was not paying attention to the road ahead, their speed, and was going too fast to stop at the traffic lights.0 -
Presuming you are the registered keeper of the vehicle, the authorities have 14 days to serve a Notice of Intended Prosecution on you. If you have recently moved house or recently purchased the vehicle, the 14 day limit may be exceeded.
This will inform you of the offence and ask you to respond to a S172 request to name the driver at the time. Once you return this, you will then be offered either;-
- a traffic light awareness course or
- a conditional offer of fixed penalty, 3 points and £60 fine or
- a summons to a magistrates' court.
The offer will be based on the "time into red" at which you were detected. The longer the time into red, the more serious the offence is considered and the more severe the potential penalty.
A course will be offered to those in an area where such courses are offered, provided the time into red is within their limit and assuming no similar course has been attended in the previous three years.
Here's the GMP information on its Traffic Light Awareness course;-

I believe it was on this road below but this google maps shot seems very different to how it was last night, whole road seems different im 100 percent it's this one though. In the shot below it doesn't show any speed cameras or traffic light cameras at all.
address is 5 Yew Tree Lane, Solihull, England, United Kingdom
I only been down this road 4 times, twice going through and back, two occassions dropping a neighbour to work, if it wasn't for the **** asking me to drop her this wouldn't of happened.
