Nice people thread part 7 - a thread in its prime

It was lemonjelly, who consistently refused to say which gender he was, although most people thought he was male. Eventually he slipped up, referring to leaving his jacket on his chair so people would think "oh he must be still in the building".
I am female, BTW.
what happened with me was a debate some posters started giving me a gender (referring to me as he or she), & hilarious kinda person that I am, I questioned such posters (what makes you think I'm female?). IIRC bendix said something along the lines of I sounded like his ideal wife.
Then another thread started wondering, & opinion appeared polarised.
To be honest, a lot of people tell me I'm secretive anyway, & I'd never obviously stated much about myself. It seemed a fun game to play for a bit!
Little things please little minds I guess...
BTW that's not meant as a criticism LydiaJ,It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It's alarmingly loud.....like magnified squeaking of eating haloumi or overcooked turkey....or creaking floorboards..
I put mine through the machine at 40 with the rest of the coloured wash, but I do put them in a bag. I have never found that washing bras has made the wires squeak. However, I have decided not to buy bras if I can make them squeak in the shop. It seems to be something to do with the wire rubbing on the fabric that surrounds it.lemonjelly wrote: »Word up nice people!
I went to see Sigur Ros last night. Had an amazing time.
What has everyone else been up to?:)

I have some rather nice news. The boy and I have been selected to be trade body experts at a very big show that deals very specifically with two things that we do later in the month. Members of the public can book a free 15 minute slot with us.
Excited, much!
Exciting! Congratulations. Hope it's fun.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Well done to Mrs G. The families certainly come a long way from the days we used to exchange banter over on GHPC.I wonder what ever happened to that?
That was a long time ago!
I think they disbanded to creditcrunch.co.uk. They were a nice bunch that posted there by and large.
We had a good meet-up in Clerkenwell one time. I upset another poster's missus by failing to agree with the leftie liberal line that I suspect was the accepted moral norm of her social group. She was quite tired by that point in the afternoon as we'd been there for some time.
Mrs Generali's success reminds me of Arnold Palmer's saying about the more he practices the luckier he gets.0 -

Awww. You missed me. I was very busy, and that was mostly why I wasn't here. But I was also feeling a bit down because work has been a bit pants recently. It'll be OK if I can get to the end of this week and survive the parents' meeting without any of the parents wanting me to be hung drawn and quartered, though.
Thank you to everyone who expressed concern as to how I was. I feel duly warm and cared for.Well Mrs Generali had a result. ... It's brilliant. She can raise the kids through their primary years and then be all set to kick on once they get to High School.
Wonderful news. Congrats to Mrs G. :beer:lostinrates wrote: »Thank goodness......my bra is not a freak! I am sure he will be relieved when I tell him he is not alone.
I actually find it quite hard to find ones that are completely squeak-less, particularly in combination with other requirements relating to my sensitive skin.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? NatWest banking is down - online, offline ATMs. Grrrr!
All our personal and business accounts.
This is why I still have my old current account with my previous bank. It has no money in it, but it has an overdraft facility, so at a pinch I can use the debit card, credit card (similarly disused but still existant with my old bank) and cheque book.lostinrates wrote: »I like having big breasts and a big !!!!. Agree with that. Clothes are not made for people with as much difference between their hip and waist measurement as I have. And that's was just as true when I was about three stone lighter than I am now.vivatifosi wrote: »Where my mel scar is a friend of mine has a very similar looking scar in the same place. Mine hurts, hers doesn't. I don't know if it is because in her case they removed stuff under the skin and joined the same skin back together, which didn't develop keloids. In my case I have had a lot of work done to remove what in effect is a large circle of skin (though the op was done twice, each time taking an eliptical shape out, the cumulative is more or less circular) so the structure has been changed more. DH also has a problem with keloids and they can be sore, though I know for a fact he doesn't wear underwired;).
DS has scars on his arm where they plated his arm back together after "the accident". He used to find them sore, and also v tender when bashed against. They are getting better now, though. I have no idea whether that is just the passage of time, or particularly because he's a kid, or because he's been rubbing Bio Oil into them whenever they've been sore/itchy. I'm just happy that things have been improving.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Didn't take it as a criticism, so no need to worry. Thanks for adding some detail that I'd forgotten.
Phew! Finally caught up. That's taken about half the morning of my day off. Other activities planned for today include catching up on watching some TV I've recorded, washing my hair and filling in some forms that my PI solicitor wants. But mostly I am just enjoying not having to hurry, and not being interrupted.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Can anyone help with my jiggle balls? Will they squeak?
I have no idea. Why would you want to wear them out and about if you haven't yet tried them in private at home? They might be uncomfortable, or fall out, or cause you some other kind of problem that you haven't foreseen. And if you try them at home, you will find out if they squeak, as well as what else they do and don't do.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Well Mrs Generali had a result.
She quit her job which had been misrepresented to her. It was meant to be a trainee accountant job which would lead to her becoming a Chartered Accountant but which was in reality an administrator's job.
The idea was that she'd become a SAHM and get a 'Mummy job', perhaps 15 hours a week.
About 6 months ago she had an interview for a job she failed to get but got into the last 2 an has cultivated her interviewer as an informal mentor. When she quit she sent this bloke a rant of an email about how she'd been led up the garden path etc.
He called and asked her what her ideal job would be.
"2.5 days a week in audit with paid study, grad role. In 3 years I've seen 1 part time grad job so it'll never happen."
A couple of days later he rang and offered her the job she'd specified to him over the phone!!! It turns out that the company just bought an audit company and needs a grad.
It's brilliant. She can raise the kids through their primary years and then be all set to kick on once they get to High School.
I'd have never dared quit, as bills need to be paid and it's all down to me ... so I'd have just suffered and been miserable, then down, then super miserable, until I got the boot for being a miserable person.... then I'd be more miserable but would have to take the very first/next job anybody offered me, no matter how hideous it was, because bills need paying.0 -
This telly lark's beyond a joke now. Turned off at the wall while I was out, it's still not working.
I don't know what to do. I remember it was about 4am when I used the set top box remote to make the picture go off.... and now it won't come back and I don't know what I pressed.
The set top box has a red light, or a green light - I don't even know which light should be showing before I could begin to get a result.0 -
I can now spill the meeting beans. Just got back from meeting LIR for hot chocolate... well, she'd have had iced peach tea except they didn't have any - so they took her order for iced lemon tea.... and after 5 minutes they came back to say they had no iced tea, so she had still water.
WATER!!! .... when there was Hot Chocolate With Squirty Cream on the menu!!!
