So sorry to hear your horrible news, bugslet. Have a hug from me too, and I'm adding my wishes to those of everyone else who's hoping your get the jewellery back (especially OH's whatever-it-is). :(
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Did the Amex/ Shell offer today - needn't have put any thought into what to buy to make the transaction up to £50 as I managed to fit £50 of petrol in :(

Thanks for the reminder, we just did OH's car, he managed £67

Wonder how much mine will be tomorrow? :( (not at Shell, just bog standard tesco for me, as not sure it will be £50)

I'm consoling myself with the thought they have a well-fed dog!

One of the pieces was sentimental, belongs to my OH, who went into permanant full time nursing care last week, rest of it is merely annoying.

I too will be investing in a new back door, in a penny, in for a pound.

sorry to hear of your news :(

My parents were burgled a few years ago and the worst part is feeling that people were in your house, rifling through things :(

Shame I don't have an Amex card, fill up a few trucks with 1500 litre tanks .....

Another house further up the road was burgled yesterday, so i'm discounting the care home on that basis.

Buy gift vouchers or chocolate to make it £50.

If you are using Tesco, spend £50 in store and get a 5p per litre off voucher.

We've done the Shell one. And there is no way for me to spend £50 in Tesco. The only time I did that we bought enough washing powder and dishwasher tablets for a year...

I don't think I could have fitted much more in, but I stopped as soon as it got to £50. That was plenty enough to be spending!

bugslet - sorry to hear about your week. There is never a 'good' time to be burgled, but that is really crappy timing. I hope that a) they are caught and b) you get your things back - especially the sentimental items.

It's frightening just how much fuel does cost per journey these days.... if I do meet up with LIR, fuel alone will be about £10, then there'll probably be parking.

It all adds up scarily - certainly couldn't afford to be driving that far too often!
