I get 5-6 Mbps on mine, so I'm quite envious of Bertie.
My daughter SB when she was attending College came up to me one day and said 'Dad' can I have a faster Internet Connection?
I fell for that one 'Hook Line & Sinker' what any normal Dad would have done.;)
Now that SB is at Uni' I gain the benefits.:)0 -
I wouldn't commute with anything less than 4 trains an hour.
The problem is that when trains break down and/or run late, you'll not be loving where you live!
Very true! Although teddington does have the reserve option of trains which go to Waterloo via Kingston as well. They take longer but provide some back up. Richmond is better though because of the district line which gets you in when all the trains are down.0 -

Less than 30 mins to Waterloo and 6 per hour and last train's about 1.30 AM if you go into central London much.
Much less crowded than everywhere further west and east - a bit of an oasis. You can get to clapham no probs, and Kingston for shopping.
Lived in two different houses there and found it strangely villagey compared with the rest of London. Not many pubs though compared iwth Richmond. Not on a flight path. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Hmmm, not really thought about new Malden but location looks good and not too far from Richmond park either. Will definitely go and have a look around.
And lots of pubs isn't important - I only need one!
Edit: just been looking on rightmove - looks very doable, can get a 4 bed with garden near the station for £500k-ish. The fact that that seems cheap to me shows you how stupid prices have become!0 -
Mount Etna being a tad active. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

and prices are stupider than stupid in richmond/clapham currently.0 -

Prices were surprisingly reasonable in New Malden. The great state schools help keep resale prices high and if you moved away for any time there's a large Korean population seeking short and long-term lets.
You get more houses than flats because it's more of a family reisdence area rather than bedsit land for singles. Plenty of easy parking.
You get flyers through your door every day asking if you want to rent out your house. There's a waitrose and a large Tesco, a golf course and a driving range. The A3's nearby there's fast buses to Heathrow/Croydon. There's lots of big stores at Shannon Corner.
Nearest cinema's Kingaton or Wimbledon (two stops /5mins by train). Very undervalued area if that's the right term. Low crime rate. No gangsta types or chavs. Best-kept secret in SW London if you ask me.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Chewy, weren't you talking about claygate or somewhere similarly scarily m25 recently?
What's ham like for prices nowadays? Is Kingston smarter than it used to be?
I suddenly tonight feel rather uncharacteristically well. Better than I have, we'll, for almost a year. I want to go to a party and said to dh I would drive both ways but he says its too late and too much. Grrrr. I don't want to be sensible tonight!0 -

Claygate went out the window when we found out they shut the pub and turned it into a hotel! But still might go down in that general sort of area - were discussing fleet last night.
Ham is much cheaper than Richmond - but there is no train station so you have to get the bus to Richmond which can add another 20-30 mins on the journey so I don't really want to live there. Couple of nice gastropub efforts down there tough.
I don't like Kingston personally - there are some nice streets but the town centre is pretty grotty and I think it has a bit of an "atmosphere".0
