Blimey Bertie, talk about being prepared! Were you a boy scout in your younger days? I wouldn't have a clue and would around now be shouting heeeeeelllllppp in the general direction of Scotland as I know all the sssssssssss knows how to find out.

I was in the Boy Scouts when I was young funny enough doing my Bob-a Job for the cause.

I think that maybe dealing with the thousands of people that I took on tour and trying to answer their many questions may have helped me;)

We went to view a possible investment property this am and it was so smoky, it is a long time since I have been in a house and noticed it being Smokey, even more surprising was two of the bedrooms were the kid daughters.

How totally inconsiderate of the parents to subject their young daughters and themselves to that environment but I suppose it takes all to make a world. As long as they make up for it with love.

What's more worrying is the statistic that 49 out of 50 cot deaths occcur in a household with a resident smoker.:(

And yes I know that correlation doesn't imply causation!

Plus I am typing on tablet as PC won't boot. Don't know why perhaps need new motherboard?
Could start by checking everything's seated properly. Plug it into the socket, socket off. Take the back off. With one hand, permanently grip the metal case; with other hand go round making sure all the boards are seated correctly.

When I mouse over the systray (bottom right to those that don't know it had a name) - it says 54Mbps.... but I've no idea if that would be the hub speed.

It would appear that your system could be Virgin Media who if I recall is fibre optic and can deliver a staggering 60Mbps.

Mine says that too but when I do a test I get 1.98Mbps - which is quite good for me :o

I use this site to test.

Yes this is a good site to use and as long as you are happy with the end result and you are able to log onto your chosen sites thats all that counts.

I have a friend who lives in Hull and he like most people in his area use a service called Kingston Communications, I think it is called, and he has untold troubles with his internet connection speed especially trying the log onto MSE he finds it impossible and that is hard to believe, poor fellow.:(

Missing MSE I would not be a happy bunny.;)

Systray (probably) shows the speed of the first leg in your internet connection. On my system, that's 100 Mbps, because that is the speed of my wired ethernet connection to the router. In your case, I guess that you are using a 802.11g wireless connection to the router. The whole internet connection effectively runs at the speed of the slowest link in the chain, which tends to be the link over the phone line between your router/modem and the telephone exchange.

I get 5-6 Mbps on mine, so I'm quite envious of Bertie. :)
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Do you think there's been a negative impact on other children in his school as a result?

No because after he was excluded, instead of going to the residential unit, he had private tutors for a year and then went to a PRU for 4 terms, returning to mainstream education in year 6 (at a different school to where he was excluded) where he won the student of the year award for great behaviour. Thus, not having an impact on any other student during the time they wanted him in residential school.

Since being at high school, he hasn't had even 1 detention or C point...the staff call him the gentle giant and a perfect gentleman and are completely shocked when they see his record from primary school.

His main problem, which was addressed in his time with his private tutors and at the PRU, is that he needs to have his brain kept busy at all times, so being streched in his work, alongside explaining things completely. His old primary school didn't do that, didn't follow any of the behavioural advice and removal of all his support because he had got 'better'...in short, they didn't meet his needs.

With his private tutors, they went at his speed (far in excess of his age group), at his level, the same with the PRU (he was studying with the 14 and 15 year olds). They also listened to the specialists so that they could deal with his learning disability in verbal understanding skills and memory problems....something he still struggles with today, the teacher can't just tell him how to do something, he will either not understand or if he does understand, he forgets it 2 minutes later!

Handy for the bullying though, he either doesn't realise he is being bullied or he does but he has forgotten about it 5 mins later.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
