The snipers have let me down every time zag, when I have bid more but someone else's sniper is faster or something.
I am prepared to bid and watch.0 -

I think I want this clock. The biggest he can make is eight inches but I want it for right at the top of the new chimne breast and I think that may be too small. Plus...no numbers...is that such a great idea...espeially from a distance.
That's a photo .... so all you need to do is find a photo of the moon at the right resolution (online photo library), get some clock face/workings and some numbers .... and stick the moon onto the face area, stick the numbers down, shove the workings on the back, hands through the hole (kits come pre-drilled).... Bob's your uncle.... any size you want.
All those items can be researched/sourced in the next hour0 -
So there's at least TWO older than me here then .....0

Haha, I was looking at doing that today, but it's not that simple, tea
Ly. E.g. I have no printing facility good enough here, so would have to pay for it to be printed ( twice, cos you know first one will go wrong!)
The hands and workings seem cheap enough though. ( the kits, looking at them earlier, the hands would be too short for a really big clock, but there are some nice hands about cheaply) I did think, if you did it your self you could put a small light behind it so it glowed too. :rotfl:
By the time I have fluffed about, it makes more sense to buy.
And...while I could put numbers on, would it me like making graffitti on the real moon and an act of total vandalism?0 -

No numbers is fine on round clocks, I've got 2 watches and they both have no numbers. It is very easy on the round faced watch. On the rectangle faced watch it is sometimes impossible, but that watch has a very thin, long face and would prob be difficult even with numbers.
Can't visualise if the distance would be a problem. As the hands and face are in contrasting colours they should be easier to see, so it could work.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Yes, it'd cost more to make one bigger as you'd have to get a local digital printer (probably) to print it out for you, but you'd get [a] a bigger one numbers [c] choose the hands probably.
Making hands, or altering bought hands, isn't impossible either.... even if you simply cut bigger ones out of cardboard and stuck them to the shorter ones
I could probably hammer you some nice ones in bronze .... she said slightly nervously as although it's technically possible, I don't have a space/workshop/tools right now.
Only 'issue' that might arise is the weight of the altered hands on the accuracy of the movement.... but not impossible to overcome.0 -

I could put up with that for a day or two.
I might be heartily sick of it in a few weeks, or relaxed and tolerant of it.
I'll be able to telecommute for a chunk of every week anyway, so it's not too bad.
My worst commute was definitely into North London by car. That lasted all of a month. I define that as commuter hell.0 -

Oh, I know people have them. The question is really how practical I might find it. In a kitchen especially, you know...when thinking this had to come out of oven in twelve or eighteen or twenty two minutes....hands help.0 -

I miss London sometimes. I never miss driving in north London. Not once. Not even the tiniest bit.0
