My ongoing recruitment drive is falling to pieces. Best candidate withdrew, second best candidate came for second interview today and was pants. Unless one of the remaining 2 somehow improves dramatically on their first interview, I'm going to have to readvertise. What a pain in the arris.
    You need a PN.... :)

Have you got an AST? If so, it shouldn't matter whether you've lost your job or not - the house is yours for the duration of the contract, I think.
That's not much help when it comes to matters like paying £300-400 fees to an agency just for the pleasure of having your income/life scrutinised, finding a LL that accepts no-jobbers/self-employed ... and as I needed to earn £18k to rent a garage space to live in .... things might not be straight forward.

Perhaps, PN, you would solve a few problems by taking the decision to buy again. You would have security of tenure, not have to worry about finding rent and then have the option to claim some benefits, if the situation felt bad enough for you.
I constantly think this... but then think that I wouldn't want to make a rash decision I'd live to regret. I don't want to end up buying 20 miles from a job.... or more.

Obviously PN knows her own mind but in the same positon I would want to rely on myself and my own savings. Purchase a property and you are then tied to jobs in one area rather than able to travel to where the work is and with the savings tied up in property (less up to a max of 6k for benefits reasons if this can be afforded) there is not a very big cushion to survive on if employment and online income are not available. Plus I suspect benefits are probably lost almost 1 for 1 for any online income?
    That's the one :)

Done the first pass through of every page on my main site. That means applying new design (beta) and deleting individually all chunks which were no longer required.

Next is to faff with the design a bit more .... then second pass through of every page, individually applying relevant blocks in 1-6 places apiece.

This'll keep me busy this week :)

Can I suggest you check the software in this post here which might help?

Hope you have a good time. Is the TV system different over there ( I don't suppose that matters if you've got a lappy).

TV is cable only and unless you go for one of the mega packages the channels are rubbish, allegedly.

We have the VPN working very easily on the iPad and apparently there is some gizmo that will let your TV mirror the iPad, so that is the net step.

Today the For Sale sign was erected at the front of our bungalow so we are green for go.

The EA's that we chose sent three of their staff to visit the property today to familiarise themselves before they start to bring along prospective clients for viewing. At least they are paying more attention to detail than the last EA that sold our previous property four years ago.

We have our first viewing tomorrow morning so we are looking forward to the experience again.:)

OK, I'm muddled now. I thought you'd already moved into somewhere so all that credit check faffing about would be over by now, and you could sit tight where you are at least until the end of your AST contract, and probably longer. It would be a strange LL who asked the tenant to move out at the end of the initial fixed term if they'd been paying the rent on time for 6 months and had enough in savings to make it clear they'd continue to be able to do so. So what's the actual situation? Are you liable to be asked to leave if your LL discovers you're now self-employed? And if so then why?

I'm impressed. If circumstances knock you down, you just jump right back up again. Well done. :T

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Yes, hope the house selling goes well Bertie.

So its been a bit of a day for me today!
Have found out answers to a couple of fairly big things that have been hanging over me for a while even though I've been trying to ignore them.
    1. My job isn't dependent on any outstanding qualifications. Looking back I'm sure would have been made crystal clear if it was, but most things are clearer with hindsight!
    2. I have just over 6 months to resolve any outstanding qualifications. I was meaning to find out about this, but in the end I heard from the institution in question first (today). I had thought that I had missed the boat, so I am going to treat this as fate trying to give me a gentle prod.

Today is a fast day but I have treated myself to a bit of the glass of wine I had lined up for tomorrow (I was going to tackle point 1 during an already scheduled meeting tomorrow, but an opportunity arose today).

    I feel exhausted!
