I've been notified of a price increase and I've joined the MSE Cheap Energy Club. Looking for a fix until next year with a utility with a decent reputation. Might be going for EDF. The cheaper ones sem to have dodgy feedback.
Scottish Power have used some dodgy sales tactics to try and get me to sign up to a 3 year fix, which isn't what we wanted as we're looking at properties nearer to London at the moment.
They've lost our business to EDF, who so far, apart from setting up a direct debit wrong, haven't caused any problems. I add that this was possibly me bunging in the wrong details, as only one number was out

This is all getting worryingly on topic. Hasn't anyone bought a new dog or something?0

We have EDF at home and they don't seem able to cope with an actual meter reading submitted online.
Moving house in a month, hopefully, so will research market for new house which is much more energy efficient.0 -

EDF have been totally incompetent with the electricity for the company I work for. They can't read the meter right, they didn't send bills for 18 months and then sent 4 in 2 months, mostly 1p different from the last one, and then they were horribly uncompetitive at renewal time. We switch on 1 April.

TBH all the companies seem to have a mix of dodgy and good feedback except the cheapest ones have by far the dodgiest comments. OVO come out really good on CS and price but everyone moans they charge higher DD in winter spring as they don't like you going into debit with them. Fair enough but I'm absolutely skint post-Xmas. Hmm need to think.
Years ago I was moving house and wanted to get cable where we were going. A coldcaller at the door booked it all for us but worryingly we got a call later from a representative of the same company who talked us through exactly the same detail and I swear I ended the converstion with the strong and infurating impression that he actually stole us as customers from the other sales rep (of his own company) at a huge waste of time for us and the company. It kind of shook my faith radically in what we were investing our work energy with in this economy. If they spent more energy chasing new coustomers rather than stealing them internally.....
I can feel another rant coming on but it might be to late to stop it.:mad:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

This is a nice but sad story. Aussies go for stories like this a lot in their news:

In not such good news, a huge hole has started opening up in Bundeburg up north where the floods were. A 2 storey building has fallen into it so far! It's raining up there again which also isn't brilliant, poor souls.PasturesNew wrote: »I'm going out to a pub later .... and been invited for beef stew for tea somewhere else.
This sort of thing should be on the news. A random happy story about someone. A small fuzzy photo behind the newsanchor's ear just after the second item, not tucked away at the end like a surfing dog:This afternoon, PN is off to a pub and later will be having beef stew with friends, sources thought to be close to PN said today.
A friend commented, "PN likes a nice bit of beef stew but is not much of a drinker so will probably have a coke or lemonade at the pub".0 -

Perhaps it's a conspiracy. You hear about that stuff with mummies.

When the congestion charge came in in London I was horrified by the number of people who started driving mopeds and motorbikes. They were all over the pavements as well as the roads and I started witnessing more accidents from scrapes to more serious ones. they clearly had nothing but smug (over)confidence which is the last thing you need .
For ordinary cyclists I shudder to think how dangerous it must have been- they say that when you get mixed modes sharing the same roads the accident rates go through the roof. I think the rationale is there's too many differnet driving styles to predict everbody's behaviuour, which makes some sense.
At least in the Netherlands, cyclists have a critical mass which protects them but in our short visit to Amsterdam we saw enough accidents. One happened outside our restaurant and somje bagsnatchers used the distratcion to try to steal one of our bags but the restaurant staff were wise to that and caught them. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I've got 6, isn't that enough for you????? I'm away for a couple of days tomorrow and everytime I think of the kennel fees, I wince - there is no MSE way round it.
Is it cheaper to send them all off to kennels than to leave them at home and get someone to look in twice a day to feed them, walk them, etc?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
