    That company love corner baths.

    The top ha
F of their steam 'rooms' are lovely, but I hate that moulded panel at the bottom.

A friend's house in France ha a shower that reminds me a lot of that companies stuff. If felt a bit like stepping into a soda stream thingy.

Imagine sitting in a hot bath tub after a meal of baked beans, something fizzy and a side of pulses.

These look quite fun, but too big. We could make to measure, was the original plan, but....li am just after ease ATM.

Lemon jelly would approve, as I don't think I could read in something so deep.

You make it sound so inviting...and romantic.;)

Have you heard of the Man in Seat 61 lir? He is a legend in train travel in Europe and has mapped out how to get to most places by train. You can now take a new and much improved service from Paris to Milan or Venice, so perhaps you can get to Italy after all. How does this sound? Daytime Eurostar to Paris, overnight to Milan, onwards daytime journey on Italian trains if needed.

ETA: more scenic and high end options:

That's brilliant. £291 for the 4 of us to do Paris to Venice on the train. The kids would love it.

I am starting to look at baths now. The plans are based on 1700 by 800 but we could go a little wider, and a bit longer of we make the corridor narrower. But I would rather keep the seventeen hundred length.

It's going to be built in.

I dislike spa baths (the idea more than the actuality, i have the feeling from the one we had in london that they are dirty) but dh lies them. What's the nice people consensus?

They're very wasteful on water and if you don't use them for a couple of weeks the jets system fills up with mold.

I find them too noisy to be able to relax in too. The Generalissimos love them though.

Yes, I think it was mold that I found when I first wa 'treated'to the spa bath at dh's flat. I remeber leaping ut f the bath and demanding bleach. This was after the sort of number of des you don't wn't to let nieces let alone daughters think its acceptable to bath in a man't flat after staying the night, let alone stand dripping and naked asking for bleach. :o:o

Are they ignificantly more wasteful than baths without the spa for water then?

As I am having trouble finding any nice bath in 1700 by 800 or so maybe made to measure and tiled should stay on the table as a possible. But I am preety sold on a normal bath ATM.

They are only more wasteful in that they tend to be bigger.

Also, the jets cool the water down which I dislike so I keep topping up the bath with more hot water.

I never even got an interview for the role :)

Don't worry you haven't missed a lot - I hear the physical requires a pretty in depth examination and don't even ask if they suggest an oral test.

This site reminded me we used to know a bloke who worked for BR and had an encyclopedic knowledge of how to travel Europe. And not just by train, he seemed to know which parts of, say, northern Spain had bad roadworks. His idea of a driving holiday was to take a motorail to the south of France and then drive around. Brilliant fellow!

Whatever happened to motorail in the UK? I remember seeing terminals in Edinburgh or Glasgow where you could drive your car onto a train and have them carried 450 miles to London.

Surely that's a more carbon-friendly way to travel than burning petrol the whole length of the journey? Or did North sea oil turn us into a mob of complacent gas-guzzlers?

A quick google suggest that once you have 2 people in a small car or 4 in a large engined car then the CO2 per mile per person for the car and train are equivalent. So once google get the self driving cars sorted there will be no reason not to use them rather than the train as long as you are not travelling alone.
