Does free food and wine get a posh alert? Seems a little harsh.
You were eating posh food, with a posh friend (defined by the fact they were in a position to randomly buy you this posh meal), in a posh place.... Posh Alert from so many angles.0 -

I'm inclined to agree. Being able to partake in something for free that other people might have to work very hard for =posh alert. You may not feel posh from the inside, but to an observer it looks that way.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

 saying hello
You arrive and find your internet doesn't work because your ISP reset some settings months ago, but no one has used the internet since and the electric was switched off, so the settings haven't come through!
Anyway back up and running now.
Hired a car, paid for a corsa sized car and they had nothing small so gave us a 7 seater chevroloet. Great we thought, til we drove about 40 miles and got warnings on the dash about reduced tire pressure, fault on the security system and needing an oil change. Boot opener is iffy and the back rear door doesn't slide properly.
Took it to the local office today and they've changed it for something newer and smaller. Actually a gain because we haven't had to pay for the petrol we used so far.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. So DW says the washing machine has stopped working and sure enough it is completely dead so Michaels takes out the clothes and powder, drags the very heavy machine out, changes the fuse in the plug and still dead. Decides to check the plug socket as there was a water leak on the worktop and some has gone down the wall at the back and sure enough plug not working. Cue trip to Wickes for new plug socket Take plug to bits in horrible confined space, start to change it but decide to use meter to check there is power, no there isn't. Scratches head, opens up adjacent dryer plug to see if it is spurred off there, it isn't so looks for where power is coming to the socket and finds...isolator switch which all under counter sockets have and of course it is off as when DW moved microwave to mop up water leak and pushed it back it knocked the switch off. Michaels does not smile, puts everything back together and strains to push washing machine back. Total time 2hrs of which effective time (switching switch back on) 1s.
Still I then went on to replace the defective tap that had caused the leak and change the washer on the water filter feed pipes that was leaking a bit so not an entirely unsuccessful day.
It was also nice to get outside and appreciate the 'early spring', probably worth doing as next week is forecast cold, dull and raw...I think....0 -
Rather a quiet day. I hope everyone has been enjoying the glorious sunshine. I've enjoyed the view from my bed, as well as a lot of the view of the insides of my eyelids.feel shocking. All the symptoms of man flu, I think. Thanks for posting, lir, I felt incredibly guilty for dh letting you down, especially considering the current situation. We were seriously considering the same heating method, eventually, it looked initially like a perfect solution. In your situation, I really do think you've been patient enough and that
the sledgehammer approach would be nothing but fair. Imagine how many other people might go through similar experiences, the longer it goes on for you.
Seen some TV. Discovered I like Call the Midwife; there's another one later.
I also watched a programme about conserving black rhino, part of which involves dangling them by the feet from a helicopter. A very strange sight on TV, let alone what that must have looked like in real life!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Doozer, I do not feel let down by your h, I just heard emergency and was very worried lest it were one of you, now I know it was work related.
He also offered to come , with you!, on Saturday, and it was our issue that made that impossible. I have faith in the doozers, so please do not feel guilty or like that is an issue for us.
We have spent some time appropriately weighting our sledgehammer this weekend, which has involved some conversation between us as to how heavy this is. Sadly these are very NOT nice people discussions, which is a shame, one never wants to have to take that line, but sometimes you just have to.0 -

The time for being nice has long since passed, I'm afraid. Or more to the point I fear they should probably be afraid!0 -
Yes, he did suggest a road trip for the doozers! He ended up working all day yesterday as well. I don't know if he told you the story here but it's entirely dwarfed by your story and it shows me dramatically what very reasonable people you have been and what reasonable clients you are.
I don't think there was a need for your situation to happen. Ultimately if you balls something up, you admit it and suck it up. Pride in a job and reputation are more important than cash to a good person. I'm not even convinced that they would have lost that much even if they had started all over again. It just sounds like you have given them more than enough time to show that they do their job for the wrong motivation and that frankly, they deserve to be stopped as no one deserves what you have been through - especially you and fir.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
