It's probably just a choked up engine .... she's been hanging her handbag on a handy pull out hook on the dashboard for the past week0

Big dog used to hate wooden floors but as her confidence grew so ha her delight at skidding on wood or laminate. Dog dog used to like to 'sufr' on the wood floor where we used to live, by running in, jumping on a be and skidding down the hall way into the kitchen.
I do that (but not quite so well) at my parents house.
I often don't walk across the (tiled) kitchen floor, I skate0 -

So someone has missed these strict controls that are set in place to stop this from entering the food chain.
I wonder who is responsible for checking the passports that all horses are supposed to have,
Makes you wonder does it not.:(0 -

We all are, in the industry. When we travel horses we are meant to have theassports on us, and vets should check on drug administration and the slaughterers should.
I only have breed registry passports from weatherbys now (the throroughbred registry) so not sure how other registries work* but we are meant to send ours back when the horses die. I know few who do.
* yep, otherregistries. There are dozens, and dozens. Which is plainly ridiculous for this purpose but works well for breeding purposes of particular breeds. Unlike kennel club, for example, when all breeds come unde one mantle.
Passports, once mandatory, should have been a DEFRA issue.0 -
That was the previous car
Mmm I assumed that it was the Ford Ghia that misscool had just purchased. We will see what has happened because most cars are so reliable these days, or should be with the management systems that are installed in them. I certainly do not miss the choke that PN referred to.:) they were a menace at running too rich.
Hope that misscool is on the road soon...;)0 -
I think that maybe Miss K should wait to hear what the nice Mr AA has to say first. Otherwise, she might effectively be ringing up to complain that the car has run out of fuel.
Mr AA has said the battery is old and the cold start amp is too low. it's supposed to be 390 but i've only got 292. so it should normally be ok but it was due to be replaced.
will ring mr car man tomorrow and ask why it wasn't flagged up at the full service that he gave it before i brought it home. tsk tsk.
home now and making pasta with cheese0 -
I doubt they check that sort of stuff in a service. Just any fluid levels - although these days batteries tend to be a sealed pack.0

That could be a whole lot worse, Miss K. I think that if you buy a second-hand car you have to factor in a few items like that, and it is not possible to check battery condition without specialist gear, so not sure that you can really blame your local mechanic.
Battery capacity reduces when it is very cold, so I am quite surprised that you got through the recent very cold spell and the problem has only just shown up.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

That is more worrying now, could be a whole new problem..0
