Mr AA has said the battery is old and the cold start amp is too low. it's supposed to be 390 but i've only got 292. so it should normally be ok but it was due to be replaced.

will ring mr car man tomorrow and ask why it wasn't flagged up at the full service that he gave it before i brought it home. tsk tsk.

home now and making pasta with cheese :D

missk, I think Halfords will change the battery for you for a few quid plus the price of the battery if you need it done quickly and can't get into a garage. They aren't the cheapest but they are far from the most expensive. That's if you can't get the company to change it for you of course.

He looks like he's having his tummy rubbed :D

He had been about five minutes before. But how many hands do you think I have :D

His preferred rubbing stance is to stand on me, his hands, oops, front paws, on my collar bones, and to be scratched all up and down his sides and back. He thinks that is heavenly.

    Tasha sounds sensible. ;).

Big dog used to hate wooden floors but as her confidence grew so ha her delight at skidding on wood or laminate. Dog dog used to like to 'sufr' on the wood floor where we used to live, by running in, jumping on a be and skidding down the hall way into the kitchen.

When Ben first came to live with us he was terrified of the tiled kitchen floor and would slip on it. His previous home had carpets throughout.

Valentines day today and for the first time in years, I got something!

    !

That is lovely. Very pleased for you.

I got a card and to my shame did not get anything for my beloved OH.

We have had a long day today as we attended the funeral of my Uncle/Godfather. A witty, happy, hardworking Irishman who is now reunited withe the love of his life. When we made a toast to him we raised pints of Guiness.

We have RAC cover (thanks Tesco clubcard deal) and you can buy a battery online and they will come to your workplace the next day and fit it free for RAC members, £30 non-members. Battery price was the same as Halfords.

michaels, have you started using Clicksnap, or whatever the Topcash equivalent is yet? Just wondered if it's worth the effort?

Funny you should say that, went out this evening and put £10 petrol in the car to get £2 back with click and save (topcashback) and then tootled on to the Tesco Metro for 2x300g boxes of ferero rocher each costing £5 and bringing £5 back with clicksnap so effectively free so DW not only got the roses but also two boxes of chocolates at total cost to me of £2.50

:D i have no luck with cars. am now waiting for the AA again.

I'm glad you are getting your moneys worth on your expensive AA however I agree with Bertie that you need to make this the garage's problem not yours, even if the battery is not covered in the small print of the warranty they should change it as a good will gesture.

Hmm - Halfords batteries are about 50% more than places like Eurocar parts with a suitable discount code and I suspect MsK or MrMsK should be able to change the battery. Check you have the radio code first though.
    I think....

In another remarkably MSE post, I have just found out there are loads of free books for kindle on amazon. I am probably last person to discover this.

It's been all about saving money with the nice people recently, huh?

There was a sweet moment you would have linked this morning, kiwi passed the mauve squeaker cat and they gave each other a kiss. Very hallmark. Then she walloped him around the ears before continuing.

Parent's evening for middle son, good report apart from English where he is struggling with the more fictional work, best news was he is on for several A's. I think I said a few weeks ago he has already surpassed his target grade in Maths (the GCSE has already been taken and result received) and was given the choice of either taking Statistics or doing a higher maths GCSE. Well he opted for going for a higher grade (AKA an A or A*) in Maths instead of stats as his memory is hopeless for things like that and the maths teacher is now stating that middle son should be taking maths at A level.

Middle son has already done his choices though and maths does not figure (nor does physics, much to my annoyance - he is an A student in physics), so I am keeping my fingers crossed the teacher's comments might get through as nothing is set in stone just yet when it comes to 6th form.

James now has 4 conditional offers (can't remember if I told you all about the 4th offer) and is now compiling a list of stuff he will need to take to uni....alongside also planning for loveerrrr to help us move the stuff there too!
There's a good post here on what to take to uni.

Hope the teacher's comments work for middle son, as maths and physics are great qualifications to have in the current job market.

I am planning on combining the topcashback (£2 off £10) and Amex (£15 off £60). Just trying to work out when to fill up to get the best benefit without actually running out of petrol

I hope you arranged the Ferrero Rocher in a nice pyramid. In my (and my brother's opinion that is the ONLY way to serve Ferrero Rocher). We also trot out the 'Monsieur, with zeez chocolates you are really spoiling us' (complete with terrible miscellaneous continental accent) alarmingly frequently, and in relation to mostly non-chocolate things. We find it hilarious :)
