Kiwi is a pious flightless fruit dogue. :)
  • I don't follow racing anymore, but I hope someone has made the appropriate joke about the horse 'beef or salmon'.

    Here's one for you LIR!

First meeting this morning was meant to start twenty minutes ago. They are going to take all the sunlight part of the day, I just know it.

I went to the doctor today and he told me to watch what I was eating, so I bought tickets for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Some of our Italian friends have referred to the pictures of him a him being 'turtle dove' colour. Beautiful. When he arrived he hurtled round as a round brown fuzzy thing and I called him the kiwi fruit. It seems apt to confirm he is more kiwi than turtle dove, though he looks not at all like a kiwi fruit now.

Personally, and I'm not the most MSE of people, I'd shrug and go and buy a battery. I don't need the hassle of rude people.

    Well done for calling.

If someone treated me in such a rude way I would be minded to write a letter to the MD explaining that you were not experienced in cars, you had bought from them for your peace of mind becuase of their reputation, the car had let you down in the first two weeks and whilst you understood they were under no obligation to do so you had simply phoned to see if they wanted to make a goodwill gesture and had been shocked to be subject to such abusive behaviour by an employee who had treated you with respect prior to your purchase.

If I were cross enough I might also contact trading standards to enquire what your rights were, warranty small print can not override consumer law. Not because of the money but because there is no call for that sort of appalling customer service.
    I think....

Evening latin speakers, I need your help. In latin, can relict mean widow (of)? I can see it also means abandoned (by), but the context seems wrong.

Relict means something that has survived when what it belonged with has gone. So you could refer to a narrow slit of a window in an old building as a relict of the days when the place was defended by archers who could shoot arrows through it, or you may find references in older books to something like "Mrs Smith, the relict of a wealthy businesman" meaning that she's still alive but Mr Smith is no more.

Missk - so sorry to hear about your car troubles. Hope it turns out that the battery is all it is.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

So Mr Nice Man does not work at that garage then:o

We are all proud of you for calling and being pleasant they have now dug a hole for themselves and you should now contact the Managing Director of the Company concerned and tell them about the way you were treated...

... because if they are not serving the customer they should be serving someone who is.:)

    Keep us all posted misscool.
