    Silvercar,

I know you are a seasoned tevallor, and I never do any more, but a tip that always helped me was to keep a list on the computer to print off of things I might need, Each item had a box in which I could write a number and a second empty tick box, for ticking when packing on the return trips....

You just don't put a number in the box of the things you aren't taking.

So, if I took two evening dresses away I new I needed to pack two to bring home, for example.

Most importantly the list let me focus on what I needed at all.....most beach trips you do not need a cocktail dress for example. :)

I'm good at lists of toiletries and household stuff. In fact I have a suitcase worth of bedding alone! Less good at packing my stuff.

One tip: I now take a photo of the toiletries i am leaving behind and the food, so next time I know what is already there.

I might be going out tonight... won't know yet. Might be an "ex colleagues huddle/coven meeting" :) and I might get fed my tea :) Expecting a call within 10 minutes of business close time.

Sounds like people saying how bad the place was as they get steadily more drunk.

Well, today hasn't been great here either. It's not often I am not happy on a day dh is coming home but the heating thing is just a bleep now.

Wishing we had never tried to install it. (easier to say on a Bright, sunshiny day though). The installing company are showing themselves to be real worms of people now, but also not terribly clever. They have sent a letter that means it can no longer be dealt with with a veneer of amicability about it, and we have no choice but to deal with this with a heavier hand.

Over the weekend we are going to think about whether we approach with a sledgehammer to crack a nut as we feel sorely tempted to after all this time, or to act with restraint. Either way things are in our favour, but while the latter would make us feel better longterm, the former is very tempting tonight.

Oh well, it's frustrating and we really did want to deal with it kindly to them and with the result of it working for us, buit it seems it's not to be,

Fundamentally the chap who came top look at it says it is the wrong size for the house. He wants one nearer the size of gdb's mega boiler in here. Not sure we have room in the utility room the nice builder built specially for the thing we have for the one he things we should have, so there are more things to think about.

Honestly, I am very seriously put off the technology by this experience, which seems unfair on the industry as a whole. Hopefully the industry complaints procedure will be more reassuring.

I love the photo idea, it's superb!

Fwiw, the packing list I used to use is really good for clothes....it makes it all painless. It never had bedding on it though!

Is the main issue that the boiler isn't big enough?

When the extension was built to this house (c 2004) rather than replace the existing boiler with a more powerful one, they added a new smaller boiler that serves the extension for heating and hot water. Advantage is that if one is playing up the other may be OK. Of course, they told us they did it deliberately. Having lived here we can see that the main heating system has issues that would make extending it difficult and probably require starting from scratch.

We have our first renters booked, so this is our last visit before it is let. The agent has asked for all the rooms to be bedded by then, which is fine. They also need 3 sets of bedding for each bed! 1 set for the beds to be made up, one set as spares for the renters (reasonable for a 2 week let) and a third set for the agents to be able to prepare the flat for the next lot of tenants if there is a quick turnaround.

I'm aiming for 2 at the moment, the agent will just need to get the machine on if they are rushed as there is a washing machine and dryer in the flat.

*Adds washing powder to the list.*

There is a possibility of doing it that way (in fact, the guy today said if it were him he would have done this size but two of them  or one bigger and one this size, or one mega one). The idea like yours being that wit two you have something (as we have) rather than nothing In the case of breakdown, plus, more capability of dealing with things like hot water demand at multiple points concurrently.

But, when dealing with boilers of this size 'just' not being not big enoughis quite big deal. Consider, nice builder rebuilt our utility to fit this in.

But that's one issue of several. It's been incorrectly plumbed, the cylinder is not capable of what we wanted (three sources of heat, this does two) and the pipe work is workable but is of too small an ideal diameter.

The other thing is, we ARE putting in from scratch. Patching a system in place seems sensible. Ours was a scratch start, so getting it ok fromthe start seems the right approach.
