Marlborough has a serious shortage of bungalows as has Pewsy and not having a large capital I will be not lucky benough to live in these two lovely locations.

I like the sound of Devizes and I think that I would blend in there quite well as I love quaint towns.;)

Bertie, would you mind editing out my quote in the big list of suggestions, just leaving your response? :)

There are bungalows, and 'older peoples developments' in Marlborough, I looked at some for one of my parents in the past. But yes, it's pricey. Devizes is lovely.

Just having a follow up on my last post re our interest in purchasing a property in Warminster and your valued comment on its position re should an emergency ever arise which would be a big consideration for anyone passed seventy.

We both like Salisbury and will be looking into properties there or near to, my question to you Lir do you have any comments to share re the city please?
I lived SE of Winchester when I grew up and went to Sixth Form in Winchester so I guess my knowledge may be out of date - is Lainston House Hotel still the place to go for lunch/tea near stockbridge?
It's difficult to do it faster really.... because one of my foibles is I like to make the least mess/mayhem as I work. So many people are haphazard and happy-go-lucky chucking things here there and everywhere ... ending up with a mess. I work slowly/methodically, ensuring I've no "mess" to clear up once finished :)
Good I thought I might be the only one who determines how to cook meals based on minimising washing up unlike chefs who are happy to use a million different dishes and hand them to the plongeur...
... When not like I have been for the last seven or eight months near to me is as far south as the coast ( a very dear friend made on MSE lives a bit west of spirit and a bit east of pn. ) ...
Oops - I thought Spirit lives West of PN :(

I think you're right.... roads are slower here than in Cornwall.... Google says 40-60 minutes :)

I'm the other side of the green stuff.... the green stuff I've not yet been to/visited/driven through.
I know you are a beaches person but you should head to the green bit with your camera, preferably very early morning (I know) - some bits are really very picturesque.

    Same from here!

    Sorry I've not been around the last few days. We currently have 3 new records for the fastest people in the office at Nurburgring;

    Viktorija: 8m51 (1990 Mercedes 190E 2.5 Cosworth)
Liisa: 8m46 (2007 Mercedes E320 CDi Saloon) (pictured)
    Me: 8m38 (2012 Jaguar XF Sportbrake 3.0d (275bhp))

I got Viktorija's round in 8m40, and Liisa's ex-taxi in 8m39, however what did surprise me is that the two diesels were quicker round the (22km) track. My XF only goes up to 4500rpm and the E320 to 4750. You get all the power in one big lump! L used to be a taxi driver (in fact, that used to be a taxi in Tallinn), so I'd like to think she knows how to do this sort of thing!

Sunday was the big birthday, DS got a 'scaletrix' which I had always wanted but never had when I was growing up.:o Anyway after cousin-in-law and I had spent a good half hour figuring out how to put together the track it then got quite competitive until the kids complained too much about having their turn...

Traffic in the green stuff can be tortuous too. We all ways go through rather than round because.....well...it's got cute donkeys and piggies, and cowies and ponies and everything.

When my mum and I were round that way last year, I made us go and look for a baby pony that we had waited for to cross the road. It had gone by the time we got out of the car, walked back down the road :(. It was so incredibly sweet. I don't think I could like there as I would never make it anywhere on time - I would be too busy going ahhh at whatever animals were in my way.

Edit: We wouldn't have gone right up to the little pony if it had been there, I just wanted to see it again :) Although I did ask my mother whether if we found it I could take it home with me :D

    Evening all!

I'm playing catch up as not on much at the moment. I'm trying to help a friend with a research project which involves tracing their family tree. It's not something I've really applied myself to before and it is fascinating. All of a sudden I look at the clock and it is three hours later.

DH is the same. When we sat down and articulated our feelings, we what surprised me is that our views actually aren't that different, even though we would have voted differently. My view is that as long as there is a clear line between religion and marriage which underlines in big red letters that any church/synagogue/mosque whatever has a right to choose not to marry people I don't have an issue with it. I can hardly have a problem with people marrying who can't have children when we chose to get married even though we didn't want to have children. He feels that Civil Partnerships exist, he supports them and can't see why more is needed.

It was my middle nephew's ninth birthday this weekend. I was told he wanted a dartboard (nine going on fifty I thought). If he and his brother get through the next month without either a visit to casualty or unintended piercings it will be a bl**dy miracle. I just have this vision of one throwing a dart at the other, and then being attacked by a Star Wars light sabre in revenge. Aunty viva's present choices could come under a lot of scrutiny. If only they wanted Scaletrix.

Aunty Viva sounds like every little chaps dream aunt. A potential provider of a drum kit. Just for the hell of it.

That sounds very 'proper'. A little hands on absorbed moment - worthy of being imagined in black and white.
