A belated happy birthday and best wishes GDB.
Same from here!
Sorry I've not been around the last few days. We currently have 3 new records for the fastest people in the office at Nurburgring;
Viktorija: 8m51 (1990 Mercedes 190E 2.5 Cosworth)
Liisa: 8m46 (2007 Mercedes E320 CDi Saloon) (pictured)
Me: 8m38 (2012 Jaguar XF Sportbrake 3.0d (275bhp))
I got Viktorija's round in 8m40, and Liisa's ex-taxi in 8m39, however what did surprise me is that the two diesels were quicker round the (22km) track. My XF only goes up to 4500rpm and the E320 to 4750. You get all the power in one big lump! L used to be a taxi driver (in fact, that used to be a taxi in Tallinn), so I'd like to think she knows how to do this sort of thing!
In other words, diesels are absolutely useless on a racetrack! I would like to do a Sabine !!!!!!z (who originally taught me the track), and get one of our vans round in less than 10
I've got to be on a flight at 9.30, so I'm heading to bed!

House is back to nomal now, took our beloved daughter SB back to Uni' yesterday armed with clothing, television and her X-box plus our elderly Alsation so the little Mazda 2 was you could say quite full.
Being away from the constant stream of motorway driving that most of my lifetime has consisted of I now realise that retirement was the best choice because the Motorways from our home to Portsmouth were very busy, with Sunday drivers of course and I really did not enjoy, so we have decided that we will be meeting halfway next time and we will be taking the train instead.
Today is a big day for my Lady and I as we will be paying a visit to the first of three EA to start the ball rolling and put our home onto the property ladder after evaluations have been made.
We will be looking at previous posts on MSE to get some tips and ideas from other nice Forum people. Have a nice week folk's.:)0 -

Does this birthday mean you are retiring or making plans to do so?
No plans to retire. My father worked until he was 79. He liked what he did, and he had no hobbies. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Does the dog like being driven around? Some would prefer to be left at home, I think.
It's interesting that you are approaching your house sale in such a positive mood. I always hated moving. You really have no idea where you will be moving to?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Tasha used to love to be driven around when we had our Volvo Estate but now with the Mazda 2 and getting older (12yrsold) its not so enjoyable, yesterday on the Motorway running over the joins in the carriageway gave her a little stress so much so that she had me up during the night as she had tummy problems, Bless.
We do not like leaving her more than about five hours when we are out so we chose to take her with us but not when the poor girl gets stressed out.
Yes we are both in a positive mood at selling our home as we feel that everything will be fine and take each day as it comes and keep our ears and eyes open I suppose, we are not desperate to sell so that certainly helps a great deal the facts are pretty straight foreward in that more capital is going out than what is coming in and the property is now far to big for our needs.
We both like Wiltshire having previously lived in Somerset where SB was born so we would like to be more inland, where to be honest the property is a lot cheaper than our present location. We like the Warminster area and have visited it on numerous occasions to get the feel of the area. We will see how things develop.
This morning my wife and I visited three estate agents with a view to have them give a valuation of our property and then try and judge which one we both feel most comfortable with, the next three days will be quite eventful I think.;)0 -
I live quite near Warminster.
One of the things I didn't consider when moving here that is now a real pain is the distance from hospitals. The out of hours service at the treatment centre in Warminster is good for minor things, Getting to Salisbury is not so good in an emergency.
On the plus side there is a tiny waitrose in Warminster now (did not stick haggis fyi) and I think the morrisons has that fresh market thing, but not sure.0 -

You have made a very good point there lir which deserves some thought being given to it, I used to attend Salisbury Hospital when I almost severed my thumb off with a sawbench, oops silly fool I was but thats in the past now.
Waitrose in Warminster looks rather appealing I must say although the number of food outlets are quite impressive I must say.0 -

It's tiny, the Waitrose. It's a shame really. Even if I wanted to I could not swap all my regula shopping to there. The waitrose in salisbury is GINORMOUS. It's the inverse of those John Lewis shops with a tiny waitrose in the basement, the witrose has a mini John Lewis in it.
Salisbury is a good hospital. The problem from the north is not just the distance but the fact it's on the other side of the city. Salisbury often has difficult congestion, and if getting to the hospital not in a van with blue lights it can take amN inordinate time. Anyway, I don't go there because my gp advised it was not best choice for me as they share neurolgy dept with southhampton. Makes me shudder I am at the 'better' choice supposedly, for brains:(0 -
Waitrose will deliver surprising distances if you order online. For example, the old lady next to us in Sheringham used to get a Waitrose delivery every fortnight, all the way from Swaffham. That's 35 miles away.
Sadly, the old dear had a fall, and her kids have now bundled her off to a home. She was very isolated, as she couldn't get out, so maybe that's for the best.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
