Waitrose will deliver surprising distances if you order online. For example, the old lady next to us in Sheringham used to get a Waitrose delivery every fortnight, all the way from Swaffham. That's 35 miles away.
Sadly, the old dear had a fall, and her kids have now bundled her off to a home. She was very isolated, as she couldn't get out, so maybe that's for the best.
Yes...but they don't pick out all the whoopsies.:D. I am a waitrose whoopsy shopper.
Tbh, I am often aghast at the things they don't have at that waitrose... But they do seem to have an inordinate number of tinned peas.0 -

Maybe Waitrose are waiting to see what the shoppers of the town would like to see most in their store and work on this, because it is only relatively new, in fact it only opened late March last year. Also they will have an on-line web page as well.
Waitrose in the area that we reside at the moment, well five miles away about, seem to be a little more selective in what they sell and it is more up-market than many of the other retailers in the area.
So Waitrose are probably playing their cards close to their chest until the dust settles, if that makes sense.0 -

Yes, it's a new store. But the feedback on it is mixed. I'd rather have it than not, but think it would have done better opening as a rather larger store, (there is another simialrly sized store in melksham, then larger ones in bath and Salisbury...
I know a lt of people are disappointed by it. My hope is it does well....for one I think they are good employers.
We have so many 'farm shops' (for which read delicatessan style shops' in the area that they fill the small and more upmarket niche. I am not sure tinned peas quite hit the mark!
I mainly buy whoopsied cheese I think.0 -
I realised the importance of being close to a hospital once my olds started having increasingly regular minor things and emergency/overnight stays ... and then the Big C appointments.
Being accessible to a hospital is high on my "house once I am over 60 and move" list.0 -

IMHO I was very suprised that Waitrose actually opened a store at all in Warminster seeing that the competition from other popular names are quite close by, their choice of position close to Lidl does not do them any favours.
I could be totally wrong with saying that but we have a recently opened Lidl in our town and it has taken many of Tescos shoppers away big time as their vegetables are by far much fresher that Tescos ever were and fruit such as grapes last twice as long.
We can only speak of what we find in our own areas to see the comparisons;).0 -

It's like that in lots of the towns I can think of out here... I think. It serves both stores well. People buy what they can in lidl then pop to waitrose for the things you cannot get in lidl.
Fwiw, I love the morrosons fresh market, but that might be because my nearest morrisons doesn't have it!
Ugh. All this grocery chat is making me peckish and I am fasting today. :rotfl:0 -
James now has an offer from his 2nd choice uni. ..Herts. He also received a call from Bucks about his EDS.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Good news for James!0

I miss Waitrose.
The fresh food in Aussie supermarkets is generally quite a bit better than the food in British ones, albeit at a price. Most veg will grow year round in one part of Australia or another with the assistance of poly tunnels to extend the season and keep the pests off.
The selection of pre-cooked/pre-prepared stuff is terrible though: super expensive and the quality is terrible too.0
