Carrying insane amounts of animal feed, dogs and towing across the field plus nipping in and parking in town, Something like a transformer I guess.
Land Rover Freelander
Hyundai Santa Fe
Kia Sorento
Toyota Hi-Lux pick up
I went with a new Santa Fe premium last year and have absolutely no regrets.
Don't get a Mitsubishi Shogun. That was a dreadful car and I was warned0 -
All the s's... you are looking rather handsome at the moment
Think I might be in for an 'interesting' weekend. Have had very small amount of stomach ache on and off today, and it is now being accompanied by waves of mild nausea. Went to the gym after work, but didn't last long - realised that it was probably more sensible to get myself home rather than being stuck at work and not feeling like driving, and do things like make my bed (cover change day today so took the bedclothes off this morning).0 -

We will be replacing a freelander. It was not man enough for the jobs needed, but it is a good size. Something that size with more in its car trousers would be ideal.
That might help those of you who understand these horrid machines understand what I need. It's also a fairly horrid drive tbh. I hate it.
(I love the look of the big Volvo four by fours, and there are some sub 10k second hand now, but I doubt they are man enopugh.. They are also HuGe. But the mpg is good I think.
Edit, some thing with decent towing ability would be more useful too I think, but that narrows the field.
Unless we also commit to buying a tractor within next couple of years and a horse box. (I hate towing trailers anyway.)
We need more monnnnnnneeeeeeeey.0 -

I have am still epicly dwindling down our freezer and cupboards. If I get snowed in with only parent's horrid car next week (it's hard to get properly snowed in here, pretty darn decent roads in and out, not too hilly or curvy, but I am more likely to huddle in) I think I am down to frozen sprouts, dried mushrooms and grains. (of the stuff I can eat on these pills). Oh, and lemons, I won't get scurvy.
I will get dh to open the tin drawers for me before he goes back, as I cannot move them. Plenty in there if it gets desperate!0 -
I won't get snowed in - and I live close to work so even if car freezes over and the roads are 100% unsafe I could still shuffle to work in an hour.....
I've just stocked up for the weekend, so I don't HAVE to go out for anything if I don't want to. Was disappointed that Sainsburys don't do chocolate custard though - so at some future point I will have to get some of that from Morrisons. I do like to have 2-3 packets of instant custard in the cupboard.... easy peasy, mix it in a jug and eat it from the jug with a big spoon
Re breakdown: I know I am over-covered .... but god knows where the paperwork is. Maybe I can get the NPs to find me a suitable breakdown cover in March, as my renewal is in April.
Re cold weather in general .... this place has amazing heat retention (or maybe I just think that as it's quite mild at present) .... heating system's [a] good and gas check done last Monday to be serviced next week. Nice n toasty0 -

Everything was ok until you said the M word!
Land Rovers can be unreliable. I was working on a MOD training site where the paths were deeply rutted and they had switched from Discoverys to Toyota Hi-Lux because of the harsh drivers and the fact the Discoverys were always needing repaired.
The Toyotas were very reliable and no problems in the year + that they had them at that point.
Hyundai do a good 5 year warranty and 5 year roadside assistance and Kia do a restricted 7 year warranty which is transferable.
The Santa Fe got voted the best towing vehicle under £30k for 2 years in a row. The Kia is very similar and just down to which you prefer.
Your best to have a look online to see what is up to the job and decide what you like then test drive a few of the models that you fancy.0 -

Daniel Craig looks like a thug - or at least what I think a thug looks like - which is just perfect for the Bond role.
Hope you feel better soon, Nikki. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
