If anyone is still looking for a "cheap" Android tablet then this one looks pretty good value...
Sumvision Cyclone Voyager £79.99 delivered
The model is the same as the Pipo Smart s1 AFAIK and they look pretty decent.

Price looks ok but personally I can't see the point in getting a 7 inch device with a screen res below that of most phones, might as well just use your phone and get a tablet with a screen res high enough for proper browsing/work?I think....0 -
Wheezy - the new year has come and no one has launched a mortgage deal anywhere near as good as the coop one so I am thinking of going for it - at £80 per month it is an expensive punt if it turns out the economy is going Japanesee but I am seeing the ££££ signs if interest rates do rise. Do you have any tips?
80 per month extra compared to your current deal?
For us it was a no-brainer - even with paying the ERC - because we were in the 4th year of a 5 year 4.99% fix.
Sorry...no tips.0 -
To continue with the bush fire theme:

This is how Stay and Defend can work. What they have done is:
1. Reduce fuel: if there's less fuel there's less fire
2. Have a reliable water source
3. Make sure your fire fighting systems work
4. Have an escape plan. Better still have 2 escape plans.0 -
Never been to Newcastle. Never been anywhere in the North-East0

There was this item on the news about the family sheltering under the jetty. Looked scary, but they're all safe.
I also felt for doggy who had to stay on the jetty of course
That made the news here too.
Down in Tassie where I believe that family live there are about 100 people missing. Thankfully so far in NSW the fires have been terrible but they've caused little damage to buildings and nobody has been killed. A lot of farm animals have been destroyed either in the fire or by the vet afterwards.
Unfortunately there's at least a month of this left to go: 2 wet years have meant that there's a lot of fuel for the fires and a dry summer has to come at some point. The next warm spell is due to come in tomorrow to Sydney and south being a 2-3 of days in the mid-30s with lightning on Sunday.0 -

I'm pretty sure web browsing would be far better on this tablet than a high res phone. I have a high res Samsung 5.1" phone and a 9.7" tablet and the tablet is far more usable. There's no comparison really, but then my sight isn't what it was.
In the reviews at the bottom of the tablet page, most (some with high res tablets) seem to think the screen is perfectly usable although seems lower res on paper but it depends what you want.
If you want a high quality 7" then the Google Nexus seems to be the current bench mark but that is around £100 more expensive and has no card slot.
That's a lot extra just so Nikki and silvercar can beat us at games
Edit: It hasn't got very high on hot deals but some interesting comments... HUKD<0 -
Our 8 inch tab is 1280x768 or something and you can browse pages properly, netbook is 1024x600 and that is annoyingly not able to render full pages properly. My new phone is 1280x 720 but 4.3 inch you have to zoom pages. I have had various 800x480 devices and all of them the pages have to be scrolled or you have to look at mobile sites. The res matters to me as low res you are limited to mobile sites or scrolling all the time
I guess for games and looking at mobile pages though it would work but not what I use the device for.I think....0 -
I've only had 768 devices as I don't like to have to side scroll.
This was more as a first or low budget tablet that would still be up to speed for holidays, travelling and dropping without worrying too much.
Some of the new tech at CES looks like there is going to be no slow down in tech developments and design though China is miles ahead on products and price.0
