Inverse bond ETFs. Does anyone know if there are any linked to long-dated UK government bonds, preferably leveraged? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

No but I have used similar. And find them useful. I think I have myfitnesspal ATM. I like pie charts on mine. And to more easily see where I need more/ less or otherwise to supplement.:o0 -

Your dd is a ball of energy (it's beng such a 'sunshine' kid, she has all that sun explosive energy as well as the joie de vivre). And she would be tiring for any parents, let alone one, albeit 'super' mother. But even learning to occupy her self is a part of what you are teaching her, a great lesson, just one that sunshine children like her find harder because it's ALL happening and she wants to be a part of it, creating it.
I have seen you and your kids, very few peoe equal the job you are doing.
What can I say? Thank you.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

I lived and worked in Newcastle/Gateshead for 15 years but moved down south 20 years ago. However, visited quite frequently as in-laws lived in Sunderland.
Hi! Feel free to put you hands in your head and ignore me but....
Where is good to stay there? One night, central ish I think (how big is Newcastle?, nice.....maybe very nice?
Would someone who is not good on their own feet need to hire a car or is it small enough to use a taxi for journeys between central staying place, the university and either a golf course to the west (some where on the wall) or Gosforth? (one of those two places, not both, but do not know which) Does that sound crazy in a taxi?
Edit...it's newcastle united golf course so forget Gosforth..0 -

Newcastle is not that big but you need to bear in mind the steep climbs if you pick one of the trendy hotels which is on the Quayside (Malmaison etc.) The university is on the outskirts of the centre although at the opposite end from the station, if that's where you will be arriving. That's University of Newcastle on Tyne (where I studied and met OH). Northumbria University is pretty central too, or was when it was Newcastle Poly, but it may well have spread and moved to lots of different sites. Knowing which university and which department might make a difference.
I have to say I know nothing about golf courses though.
Gosforth has always been the posh bit, not too far from the centre. The Tyne and Wear Metro is very good and easily accessible if you're a bit tottery (nothing personal, I think that describes me too at the moment!) I would have no problems with using taxis. If you hire a car, I have always found Newcastle parking to be pretty expensive (and I live in Surrey so know about expensive parking).
Don't know if those ramblings make sense but happy to expand on anything if you want or I can be of any help. I loved Newcastle and would be happy still to live there.0 -
I don't really know much about the hotels as I haven't needed to stay in one.

Thanks. Parking info definitely helps! Its your university not the other one.
Fwiw, I know zilch about golf either. Its actually a landmark for the destination, not the destination itself. There is one more place on the itinery but not sure where that is and think it will be near the other place.
I will look on a hotel site for hotel info, thanks!0 -
I suppose that you might find an hotel with parking. Otherwise, a car's a bit of a liability.
I remember driving to Milan with friends in the 1970's. We arrived in central Milan, and there was nowhere to leave the car at all. In desperation, I spotted an underground car park and drove in. Every single one of the cars there had a blue light on the roof - unfortunately, I'd driven into Milan police station! No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
That's so funny gdb!
Cars are a pain, but if I go I know I cannot cope with public transport ATM after the train journey so it's a car or taxis. I also cannot do the return trip in a day but I have a friend who I desperately want to see, hence trying to go and seeing if we can reasonably make it an overnight stay.
The factors need to be, affordable, realistic for me (one busy day is fine ATM, two consecutive might be tough though) and preferably before a weekend with rubbish weather so that I don't feel like I have to acheive so much here and instead recover! It's a long journey for me these days!0
