I worked with an American 15 years ago who was gobsmacked that he couldn't just "phone in sick and get paid sick leave" when his child was ill.... as that was the system he was used to - using his sick leave days like that.
My favourite story about somebody being gobsmacked in that way was somebody on an internet forum who was just switching careers to be a teacher, and asked what the procedure was for taking annual leave (during term time). Errrrr... there isn't any.Only thing is you mention returning being a problem and it will be the box not the tv.returning, the tv doesn't need to tune to the scary signal.
Might the box be retuning itself when the scart lead drops out if it thinks it's not getting a good enough signal on that frequency so starts looking for other ones? So it might start behaving if the scart problem gets fixed? Just guessing.
Can you support it with something as silvercar does, or attach it with tape, or something, just to hold it in place?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
I keep trying to reply, but keep losing my connection..... so, here goes again (6 disconnections now and nigh on an hour spent trying to connect/load/reply/achieve).
I had to Google that Wheezy.... DIRTY NP!!!0 -

If I'd had Internet the past 5 weeks, I like to think I'd at least be sitting on a sofa .... and about to get ready to go to some random pub with a bunch of members of some local group I'd discovered/attended and joined.
My special powers make me a unitasker, which means a lot of time spent "waiting" for some next significant piece of puzzle to slot into place (connectivity) and without it I can't move to the next square in the game of life. Always waiting ... part of the speshulness.....0 -
Sorry PN but an 10 quid scart lead is a posh alert - they are a quid on ebay, probably could have got a freeview hd box with a scart lead thrown in for 20 quid on ebay/tesco outlet.
We needed a SCART lead, so bought one for £4.99 at Argos. Then found that Amazon would deliver one for 99p, so ordered that, and we walked over to Argos yesterday to return theirs. So, that was £4 saved, which was rather marred by the £3.40 bus fare home again. :rotfl:
The walk to Argos was lovely, as we went along the sea shore in the sunshine. The tide was out, and the chalk reefs were exposed. There were people hunting for fossils there, and they showed us some they had found. Everyone was well dressed up - there was a biting wind - but it was a beautiful winter day.
There was also a very NP dog, a cross between a Lurcher and a Bridlington Terrier. There were loads of dogs out on the sand, having a terrific time.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

My waist is 34" although I'm trying to get that back down to 30-32". I've still got a mad plan to ride my bicycle across the Nullabor Plain through about 1,000km of desert and I could really do without carrying any unnecessary weight.
What will you do for water in the desert? A quick Google suggests that you'll need 10 litres a day if the temperature is 30C.
Are you planning on cycling on the A1 road?No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

H4ppy farquin New Year
I'm at a friends (in Herts). We are staying in with lots of food and drink, rather than doing so separately or with our parents. We have both (independently) decided that in 2013 we are going to build on the changes we made in 2012. For the first time in goodness knows how long I'm feeling quite hopeful rather than sad about the new year.
Happy New Year, Nice People. I hope 2013 is as happy, healthy and wealthy as possible for you all xxx0
