I'm guessing I'm the only NP at work today.
Well I work from home, so technically I'm at work today and tomorrow.
I may even shuffle some papers around today. OH has set himself the target of submitting his tax return today.
My mother has set me off. She's talking of 2013 having to be worse than 2012 because she had dad with her for half of 2012! Er no, not the only one although firstcapitalconnect didn't seem to realise it is a working day and they should be running trains...
On my floor plate of about 75 overworked, underpaid and essential to the running of the country civil servants there are 3 of us in. The only saving grace is the person I would fancy were I not happily married is.inI think....0 -
Dh at home till later in the week. But ofcourse we had that critters etc to do.
We wanted to have all the wonter pruning and tidying up done this vacation, but no chance, even if it dried and the sun came out in ten minutes we would not have time to do it all now
Dh has had an epic breakfast. First he tried making pavlova for tonight, as I said I wasn't interested, but then I had to step in because I couldn't bear to see the pigs ear he was making of it, so then he had ten (yes ten , I am a bit horrified) egg yolks left which he mixed with two whole eggs and had a plate of scrambled egg. He argues that this is a perfectly reasonable amount of scrambled egg as half the egg was in the pavlova so it's 'only' five plus two eggs. Hmmm.0 -
I do sometimes wonder how 'bad' being fat really is as long as you're fit. I count as overweight but you'd never really know it to look at me. My legs are like tree trunks because of all the cycling I do which will be part of the reason.
I've heard that sumo wrestlers don't suffer ill-health until they retire. Their fat is stored under the skin until then and then relocates to the abdomen where it becomes dangerous.
There was a bloke on telly the other day getting liposuction and they casually dropped in the minor point that this means he'll only ever regain weight in the abdominal fat that's really dangerous. A minor point?
Oh yes and working today (admin that needs to be completed when I return to work on Friday) while visiting relatives.:(There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
My not falling apart in a crisis is why I am the first person my parents ring when dad is not well, they know I will deal with stuff without all the usual emotional responses people have (they tend not to see the falling apart stage though), it is also why I am the named executor of their wills. My siblings are just too emotional to deal with things and let their hearts rule their heads, whilst I will take the logical step, coldly and firmly and process hard to listen to information with no problems at all.
Well, until the crisis is over that is, then I am the most emotional person you could meet, sobbing in the corner and away from everyone until it is all out of my system.
My version of falling apart doesn't stop me making good decisions and doing whatever's necessary to deal with the situation. It just means I need to find people to tell all about it (including both what happened and what action I have had to take as a result) before my brain can calm down and return to being able to give attention to the rest of life.
Not working today. Will go into school on Thursday to get stuff ready, and start teaching again on Monday. Kids go back on Monday too.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

A classic male trick IME. My solution after suffering this for years:
me: "I can't bare to watch" and walk out the room.
male (1 of 3 possibles): "now you've said that, you need to offer guidance."
me: "I wouldn't be starting from the position you are in now."
A few days/weeks later:
male: Please guide me because last time you criticised
me: ends up taking over. Grrr!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. My household is the same...
OH doing her return right now and I'm shuffling papers.
I haven't started my return yet. This is the most disorganised I've been that way.
I got scunnered with HMRC the year I had my return in early (through accountant) and they just binned it without saying anything as it was too early. Course when it got to the last minute, they said they hadn't received it.
Had to try and get a hold of my poorly accountant to resubmit it again.0 -

I'm not going to disagree with that but it does work both ways0 -
I am not at work .... first time ever I've had a job and not been at work. Having to use up annual leave though as they closed from Fri 21st and reopen Wed 2nd. A whopping 7 days, or 25% of the whole year's leave gone... and I've not even finished earning that much yet.0

I have to admit to having the step ladder and electric drill out, with a few random pencil marks on the walls, when my son-in-law or other make relatives visit....:o
If I tried to drill holes for screws etc, my house would be Aertex!0
