I agreed with all of your post lydia (as usual), but I don't think the importance of this particular bit can be underestimated. I've seen what happens when this isn't the case and in my opinion it was worse than any reality.

Thanks Nikkster. You say the nicest things. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It took 25 minutes to load the page and read - then I did a post, then lost the connection ... the bugg4h.

    Short version:

Crikey! A page of stolen peanut butter and dog food pies.... most unexpected NP page ever!!

    :)

So, been out. Traded in the single for a double ... extra £8 which I kind of begrudge. Then off to get a new aerial lead as I found touching the lead made the TV picture be better for a few seconds, sometimes minutes, another £8 (no different in performance to the old one, which is a bugg4h).

Then it was off to look at beds/sofa beds. All in all .... blimey there are some right pricey places about, even in the sales! It's made me decide that I do want a sofa bed to sit on .... and won't need a bed at all (until I buy a house).

Then I picked up some reduced/short date cheese and came home to have that with my reduced corned beef and reduced coleslaw and a boiled egg :)

Pumped up the new lilo, plugged in the new TV lead and put some washing on..... it's almost like a proper life going on isn't it!

You fit in here, Sue, because you are a nice person. All the Herts/Jewish/scientist/mushroom/home-owning stuff is just optional garnish. :)

I was a renter when I joined this board, with no realistic prospect of owning a home while my parents were still alive (which I hope will be for a good long time yet in my dad's case, although sadly I've now lost my mum). A few unexpected twists of the road, and here I am, owning a house outright (with a comparatively small informal loan from my dad), for reasons that nobody could possibly have predicted in advance. I've fitted in here no matter how any of that other stuff has changed, and indeed these lovely people on here have been a major source of support to me through all the changes. (I have RL friends, of course, but it's limiting to be a single parent who can't leave the kids without arranging childcare, whereas pixel friends are always available even when you can't get out. Well, as long as you've got a decent BB signal, of course.)

Anybody who knows anything about your James could not possibly suppose that keeping him was a mistake. He is such a credit to you. (And so are the other two, although we understand that you don't tell us quite as much about them, because he's the one who's old enough to give consent).

And even if you hadn't caught ex that particular night, you would have found out eventually. Even if that affair had fizzled, odds on he would have had another. You're so wise not to waste time and energy regratting. At least the life you are living now is real, and based on truth, and who knows? You may find another job to apply for soon. Those boys are getting older and more capable every day. :)

    Aww thanks...

I forgot about the Jewish connection, I have that too on my paternal side :rotfl:

I agree about knowing the truth, although it was a hell of a shock at the time, it has turned out to be the best thing that could have happened for the children..things could have been an awful lot different if the marriage had continued (James has said he would not be living at home now if their father was still here - their father is not keen on the boys, or anyone for that matter, not agreeing with his point of view)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

ON a serious note I am daily amazed at what some of the NP 'suffer' through without complaining, I can't contemplate how I would cope with LIR or Sue or many others daily challenges and yet you all seem to rise to them without complaint. I sometimes wonder if we are actually quite well equipped to handle stress and adversity and it is actually not having to deal with problems that can lead to stress as we try and create things to prime the fight or flight response from life's trivialities. For instance Mr G can put his entire life on the flip of a coin whereas I can agonise for weeks over whether I should pay £80 a month to fix my mortgage for 5 years.

On a trivial note, I have failed to order a shoelace during the hols and so now need to find one for tomorrow - any thoughts on which shop (open today and nearby) is likely to have a 100cm round black shoelace?
    I think....

    timpson's? wilko's?

Failing that, any sports shop/outdoor shops will have shoelaces?

Thanks to all for your nice wishes.

A bunch of bad stuff came together. My Dad hadn't been dead very long and he took a long time to die. I never really got a chance to mourn him except giving a speech at the funeral. There's a load of stuff there too about his dying but I don't really want to go into that either.

Sometimes life is awesome and sometimes it's crap Andover of the time it's in the middle. It ain't deep but it's true.

That's what they want you to think.... that's what I've got (except single).....

I took two of those out to the flat. Pumped them up with a half price foot pump. used them as a sofa for a week. Then DS2 went there with his mates and they got used and abused, at one point they went in the pool. Still intact, didn't even need pumping up when we went back in October. You must have been unlucky.
