Pastures, the more I think of it the more I wonder if a futon roll would be a reasonable option for you. It'll cost less than airbeds in the long run and is a more permanent sleeping option. Plus it can be moved in your car.

    Something like this:
    http://www.tesco.com/direct/futon-single-mattress-natural/212-0115.prd?pageLevel=&skuId=212-0115&sc_cmp=pcp_GSF_Bedroom_212-0115

Plus if you can fold it down small enough, you can get a base which can convert to a sofa (or chair if a single bed)

ETA: the Argos one is possibly better value as you can get both bits for more or less the price of one at Tesco:

We had that set in our TV room once. Bl**dy uncomfortable to sit on and to sleep on!

They seem to be worth 24k avios. Amex seem very generous, they gave me 50 quid top cash back and points worth 120 quid at sains/m&s (or other amounts via avios etc) for opening an account and spending 2k in 3 months. :)

Er does DW read this thread?

I'd recommend spending it on an experience ( I took DW on a surprise trip one weekend to Barcelona involving finding passport and smuggling it out of house and arranging relatives to look after assorted DKs).

She took me (on a surprise visit) to the Moulin Rouge via Eurostar at a later date.

Very juch recommend it. Bear in mind I did get some NP feedback that this wouldn't appeal to everybody- but it did appeal in our case.

It sounds great to this nice person.

The last time I asked Mrs Generali to take me somewhere that had long legged girls that weren't wearing much I ended up at the netball. Not what I had in mind.

I hope everyone is enjoying the quiz. I thought making it multi choice would mean it was a bit more accessible.

It's a lovely day Down Under, mid 20s with just a little breeze. It chucked it down on Christmas Day. As the French say, il pleut comme la vache pis. Anyone who has seen la vache pis will understand.

I'm looking for some ideas for a slightly lucrative sideline, something I can do in the evenings. Thoughts?

Step away now whilst you still have a life.

Enter, only if you are prepared to care sincerely for pixels, other peoples boilers, their old people, careers, housing, dogs, passports, student offspring, ailments and cute children.

You have been warned. Welcome, but it is on your own head if you never have enough time for real life again..

Pixels - Aren't they little people who live in Cornwall?
I know a lot of old people with boilers. And people with old boilers
Careers - had one for 40 years, decided it was time to retire and let other [STRIKE]slaves[/STRIKE] eager beavers have a go
Housing - that was my career
Dogs - I rescue all the psycho mutts no-one else will touch
Passports - the red one and the blue one (blue badge) take me anywhere I want to go
Student offspring - Grrrr. DS is 30 and still at uni wasting our taxes
Ailments - never ask an oldie 'how are you?' unless you have at least six hours to waste, and want to hear their waste problems in fine detail
Cute children? In the same sentence? Hmmm...

    I guess this is a fail :p

Welcome sparrer. Always nice to have a new NP. My sole claim to a connection with Hertfordshire is that my brother lived there for a few years and I stayed with him there for a week once, and a few weekends. In fact, my only "typical NP" thing is that I'm a scientist. Do you have connections to science, sparrer, or to Judaism? I don't manage much on the Jewish bit either, although my RL name is Jewish (well, it occurs in the Old Testament, anyway) and I did once accompany a school trip to a synagogue when they needed an extra teacher and I was free.

You say you're new to the Debate board - which boards do you usually hang out on? Are there any you particularly recommend or regard as "home"? I'm a teacher (actually I imagine you already guessed that), and so I've had more time on my hands than usual recently (especially while in bed with the cold I've just got over) and I've been venturing out into parts of the forum where I don't go very often. Of course I've known all along that the NPT is a haven of tranquility amidst the frequent lapses into petty bickering of the rest of the Debate board (although there is also plenty of thoughtful and well informed economics, sparrer, so don't be put off reading threads if they look interesting), but I had no idea how brutal some of the stuff on the relationships and families board is. Lots of supportive discussion, of course, but some of it, well! The ad hominem attacks on the debate board are tame by comparison. I posted one comment (about adult children of elderly parents becoming less capable of living independently) and then read a few more threads and decided that board's not for me.

Doozer, I'm afraid I know nothing at all about Access. My general approach to data is to do everything in Excel, and write my own code for anything I want it to do. So far I haven't come across anything that I want to do that can't be done that way, but then I've never tried to do exactly what you have in mind.

I was in Hertfordshire for some years, now I'm a mile or so over the border.
No connection with science at all
One side of the family is Jewish
I use a couple of boards but hesitate to recommend any. I've found some are quite vicious in their attack on innocents so leave well alone.

If I spent that much I'd not be able to afford a proper sofa/bed. Futons are awkward and uncomfortable. At £20 I'd consider it, but my full price budget for a sofa/bed's about £150.

Issue with full priced at the moment is they only deliver Tue-Fri, so I'll have to build up some annual leave time, then apply for a day off to sit in and wait for a delivery; they also deliver to the door (not inside), so I'd have to think if I can really manhandle it alone in through the door and into the living room.

Lilo is affordable, they're just shoddy so far.

    Can't overspend.... after the sofa/bed I still need to source/procure a fridge/freezer. :)

How about a proper inflatable mattress (camping type) rather than a Lilo?Might last a bit better? (this might be what you've already been getting)

    Hello Sparrer
Welcome to the Nice People thread :)

Thanks for mentioning the RSPB HQ - I moved to the same county as you a couple of months ago and that looks like a nice place to go (might leave it until the weather picks up a bit though!).

Do go when you can, it's a real haven of calm.
This is true. Many of us have become rl friends and deeply, deeply fond of each other here a lone and/or rl.

But you sound like you will fit in. :)

    Thank you kindly :)

A girlfriend's sister's boyfriend was from Herts. Nice chap.

I've just bought an inflatable double mattress from Argos, Regatta, £14.99. Can't go wrong.

ETA: Just checked and the town he's from is in fact in Hampshire. My mistake! So I have no connection with Hertfordshire :(
