I'm just checking out closing times this afternoon in preparation for a whoopsies trip...if too much is sold out then it could be a very interesting meal tomorrow and Boxing day.....:)

we've just been to tesco and waitrose. bit of a scrum (think it's turning into a competition). Therefore, small reductions gets picked up.

May go back to waitrose at 4:30pm but not that bothered. shops will be open again in 2 days :)

I've checked for you and Rio is 20 30 and 34C for the next three days (but a bit humid at 73%)

jeddah is a bit cooler at 26, 29 29 but lower humidity.

I really should be doing something else but this is much more fun.

I knew very little about choosing dogs when we picked Avatar-dog, but he turned out to be ideal for me. (I did pick him for not needing much grooming and a desire to chase and retrieve things, though.) So when my lifestyle gets to a point where I could cope with a dog again, would I be wise to go for another lab/greyhound cross? Or would that be narrowing my options too much? And would a lurcher/greyhound centre be the best place to look for a lab/greyhound cross if that was what I decided I wanted?

Oooh yes please. We like pics of dogs. :)

Yes. The greyhound element means he will sleep happily while you are at work and need short but faster walks, the lab will fetch the balls which you like with out adding too much energy.

Other lurchers (sight hound crosses) may well fit the bill. E.g. A saluki might replace they grey hound element (I love, love, love salukis and they are considered 'clean' by Arabs for whom all other dogs are culturally 'unclean'. And the lab but might be taken by some other cross.

If you can do without the ball fetching but still want a dog who will be happy with short bursts of exercise and somewhere soft to sleep you can include long dogs in the search as well as lurchers (in fact, viva's mum MIT consider a long dog too.....it's a sit hound cross sight hound rather than sit hound cross anything else)

A request from someone too rushed to go back through the last few threads. Can you please remind me of the number you dial if you want to find if a phone socket is live (and gives you the home number) - was advice given to PN some time ago.

And also the website where if you put in your address it tells you the ISPs you can sign up with there. Wouldn't mind finding out if plusnet do my area. :D
