Timmy or Beatrix look like they might be ok...it doesn't say they are not, and I note this rescue has others that are cat friendly but reserved, might be one to get on the list for (beatrix is gorgeous IMO)
Cat friendly ones here

Dozens more. Including greyhound gap ( who have lurchers) and while it's not close there is the wet of England greyhound rescue.....and you could all drop in and see me while there;)
Most rescues will coordinate so if the ideal dog is found a lical home checker can approve you. Worth getting home checked first.
That's fantastic! I never even realised that there were Lurcher specialists. We've been looking at the general rehoming places, which for the most part are full of staffies. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I survived the party! Quality of survival is good - no frostbite. And this is the story I was told:
A woman's husband died, so she rang the local rag to place an announcement. She was shocked to be told that death announcements cost £2 a word, so after a bit of thought she said the wording she wanted was:
Gordon's dead.
The newspaper told her there was a minimum charge of £10, ie 5 words, so she thought some more, then changed the wording to:
Gordon's dead. Volvo for sale.
Night, night all.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

If anything there are too many lurcher/greyhound rescues, so that there is no one or even one of half dozen places to go.
Glad that might help then.0 -
Apologies to all the lovers of Staffies, but I've never understood what people saw in them in the first place? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Made me reach for my replacement copy of "Books that Changed the World" with chapters from Machiavelli, Hitler, Marx, Malthus, Darwin. Replacement because the original didn't make it through the last house move. I've never owned full copies of all these (well I did have "Origin of Species" but it never made it either).
Why don't the government make classics like these available online for all schoolkids on hard copy/download? Actually I bet they already have and I'm so ignorant I've probably not realised it. I'm not as well-read as I wish I was.
They'll be available online as the copyright has expired.

Our Tesco opened at midnight, so I did a last minute shop there. Looked like a supermarket that had been vandalised, cages everywhere, cardboard all over the floor, empty shelves. The customers weren't much better either - spotted a lot of PJs/ onesies tucked into Ugg boots!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Apologies to all the lovers of Staffies, but I've never understood what people saw in them in the first place?
No offence to Staffordshire but if that's a good-looking animal I don't want to meet anything they'd regard as ugly.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Completely agree 100%.

Same here too. I don't find body building attractive either, so why I'd want a dog that looks like it goes to the gym and pumps iron all day is beyond me. Plus I find their front legs a very unattractive shape and their heads too boxy. Then there's the teeth that always look like they need cosmetic dentistry. Sorry for judging dogs by human standards:o.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? There is a dog for everyone, and while as humans we are very moved by the aesthetics I often think people shoul dbe made to chose their breed 'blindfolded' by a description of the type and what it's breed characteristics and needs like exercise and grooming then requirements such as non moulting if necessary and size.
Most people pick a breed for life....where as our lifestyle changes. I was brought up around sight hounds and in an ideal world would like to have owned a good example of all of them in my life, but it won't happen! If I were still really active I would have loved a standard poodle. Fantastic, fantastic dogs (and to those that hate the traditional trim, see one in full coat or a tight clip, they are beautiful dogs and the trim is only mandatory of showing).
The other thing that really, really scares me is the new fashion (now that staffies are less desirable by those who once aspired to thm) for husky and malamutes and type dogs. These dogs are designed, bred for high activity lifestyles and the frustration they will feel getting a lead walk round town rather than a hard fast four hour sled pull must be massive and whiole I too adore their beauty dogs and frustration is never a good combination.
Al that said, I don't much like the look of staffies either. I prefer lithe dogs in general to foot stool shaped ones. And.....no, all though there are plenty of fabulous staffies their popularity was not based on their extreme suitability to their environment and dedication of owners. Sadly.
Many ofcourse, have found superb homes and are superb examples of staffs at their best.
Viva, hope you share a picture of the lucky dog when found:).0 -
I am really worried about Pastures. Has she tried to go west still? I am really worried for her.0
