Oysters are fabulous ( best IMO with a dash of green tobasco and a big squeeze of lemon juice). They are aphrodisiacs for a sensual reason as well as the high zinc and thus lovers who like oysters are highly desirable.
Haha yes, sounds like I should get on that!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -
Yay, I'm now home until Thursday! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Most people pick a breed for life....where as our lifestyle changes. I was brought up around sight hounds and in an ideal world would like to have owned a good example of all of them in my life, but it won't happen! If I were still really active I would have loved a standard poodle. Fantastic, fantastic dogs (and to those that hate the traditional trim, see one in full coat or a tight clip, they are beautiful dogs and the trim is only mandatory of showing).
The other thing that really, really scares me is the new fashion (now that staffies are less desirable by those who once aspired to thm) for husky and malamutes and type dogs. These dogs are designed, bred for high activity lifestyles and the frustration they will feel getting a lead walk round town rather than a hard fast four hour sled pull must be massive and whiole I too adore their beauty dogs and frustration is never a good combination.
Al that said, I don't much like the look of staffies either. I prefer lithe dogs in general to foot stool shaped ones. And.....no, all though there are plenty of fabulous staffies their popularity was not based on their extreme suitability to their environment and dedication of owners. Sadly.
Many ofcourse, have found superb homes and are superb examples of staffs at their best.
Viva, hope you share a picture of the lucky dog when found:).
Starting from when I was a kid, I've grown up around:
Dog 1: Border Collie - lovely
Dog 2: Dalmatian - mad dog, lovely temperament
Dog 3: Pekinese - the only small dog I've been around, lived with my grandparents for a bit and it was theirs. Very regal dog that wanted everything done for it.
Dog 4: Golden Retriever/Lab cross - very clever animal that would steal food from anywhere
Dog 5: Dobermann Pincher - dappy mad soppy animal, lovely
Dog 6: Dobermann Pincher - not at all like Dobermann 5, totally different character. Didn't trust this one as much, she had a dark side.
Dog 7: evil black neurotic cross of indeterminate parentage - dog with a screw loose
Dog 8: the lovely, lovely lurcher - everyone's favourite dog. She was lovely. The only thing bad was that she wanted you to throw a stick or a ball, ran like hell to it, then came back without bringing it. But if that's the only downside..
Dog 9: Border Collie cross - bonkers brainy, this was my dog. We had a very special bond and she detected both mine and my mum's suspect tumours by sniffing and trying to lick the affected parts.
Dog 10: Border Collie/corgi cross (lovely dog but wierd looking) apparently bred for cow herding. This is the one that could dance to Blue Monday.
Re the Malumite thing, my lovely lurcher was attacked by another dog. It was a large dog, not a Malumite but a similarly powerful dog with a need for exercise (I can't say much here but can PM anyone interested as it is an unusual breed). The dog was kept in every day and used to bark angrily every time Mum and dogs walked past the house as it was never walked and was very jealous of the other dogs who were exercising in the fields nearby. It escaped the house and attacked her: bit her throat and her hindquarters and it was touch and go as to whether she would live. Even though the same dog attacked again, nothing was ever done as the dog warden was powerless to act as dog on dog attacks are not covered by the Dangerous Dogs Act.
Please don't quote this as I will take down.
Anyhow, lovely lurcher looked very much like the dog on the left of this picture:

I'll happily put on a BBQ when the weather improves for the NP, as I have a reasonably large garden at the moment (although can't guarantee that if we sell and have to move into rented for 6 months or so)
Or the other option is to head down to the bar we own in London, and I'll happily keep everyone served (on the house, of course).
MissK, can you let Pastures know that we're worried about her, and let us know if you hear anything back. All the NP wish her a Merry Christmas. The same goes for everyone else.

A request from someone too rushed to go back through the last few threads. Can you please remind me of the number you dial if you want to find if a phone socket is live (and gives you the home number) - was advice given to PN some time ago.
And also the website where if you put in your address it tells you the ISPs you can sign up with there. Wouldn't mind finding out if plusnet do my area.

Turkeys:
So Mr Morrison was sold out at 4.30 (open to 5)
Mr Sains had loads left but at 5.30 (open till 6) but was insisting that they would not be reduced until boxing day
Buut Mr T had the prepacked reduced by about one third at 6.00 (open to 7) and while I was there reduced the counter ones to half price making them about the same as the prepacked (and hopefully nicer) - only problem is the smallest may be too large for our roaster
However Mr T Hatfield refused to sell me one of the 49 quid tablets as they are a boxing day special even though apparently they are being sold in Boreham Wood, Watford and Hemel T's todayI think....0 -

Your prerogative, but I found it really interesting. Try to preserve as much as you can.
I found it interesting that 5 and 6 were so different, but I guess that you can make any dog neurotic if you don't know what you are doing. (Not you personally, I hasten to add!)No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Two mangos bought at M&S at 50p each. We've had one, and it was perfectly ripe. I had some misgivings, as we really are the most profligate generation, flying fruit around the world and then selling it at silly prices. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
