Back on music, I'm off to see Madness tomorrow.

I was wondering how it went. If you're around jelly, did you have fun?

I came across a video from a band that I rather like, they are still unsigned I think, but this is really good. Shades of Oceans 11. Thought you and the other NPs might like it, very funny premise:

    Pfffft.

    It's raining here. :(

Another day another heating issue and potential solution. Cannot be resolved til Monday but things are tepid not frozen and we are doing the kettle bath thing tonight. That should see me in a good mood afterwards.

    That's a good video.
You might enjoy this site as it gathers up new music esp. with videos (but you probably already know it).

Saw Madness once years ago before the kids came along. It was Wembley Arena . Doubt I'd bother going there again; it was like looking through a telescope the wrong way.

    Brilliant band though!:T

The thing is, you know who they are. I mean that with a lot of the singers and bands commercially rammed about now the sound is similar and the fashions are similar and even the great ones seem harder to discern from th crowds. The ones who do is like a cold glass of water on a hot day!

does anyone here have a tablet and a laptop? just wondering if OH would like a tablet for a chrimbo present but we spend time on our respective laptops. not sure if a tablet would just be extraneous junk lying around

DH does. He only really uses the tablet for holidays and travel. We are both pretty proficient typists so prefer a keyboard as for typing tablets aren't as good. Being a bit of a gadget man, he also has one of the Dells where you can switch the screen round to be a tablet, they are really good if a little heavy compared to a tablet.

If I spent time commuting on public transport rather than by car, I'd buy one like a shot, as you can also upload your tunes onto it and listen or read an e-book, so I'd carry fewer of those additional items.

I should say though that my pet hate is people who carry tablets with them and then use them as a camera. If you want to take pics round London with them that's fine, but when I went to see Queen with Adam Lambert, people were taking pics with their iPads, meaning that everyone behind couldn't see as there was a great big rectangle where they were trying to look. On TV, I saw someone do this at the start of the men's 100m final as well. If I'd paid £1500 for that seat I'd have been well p*ssed off.

Viva again has summed it up nicely.

Tablets are great for travelling and on holiday but at home you'd probably prefer to look at a 15" or bigger rather than a 9.7"

Mine mostly sits in the "junk lying around" part of my home but is in the "essential" category for holidays.

What you and I should be asking missk, is what are the desirable man presents this year. I still haven't got my main present for him indoors, even though he's got a stack of other little stuff. Little stuff is easy. I know what he likes and you can take a gamble with something that costs less than a tenner. Anything big though and you risk the "oh darling that's um, interesting" on Christmas day.
